This is the album that made me fall in love with Sonic Youth. I had Murray Street and Sonic Nurse before that but didn't quite get it. Dirty will make you a happy bunny.
I bought this the other day too. Haven't got round to listening to it yet, since I also bought a 5 CD Steve Reich retrospective which is taking up a lot of my time, but I'm very much looking forward to it.
I've only listened to it once and it had no effect for me.
Although daydream nation was similar and now is one of my favorite albums, this i'm sure evol won't be the same.
I couldn't really clutch onto any of it.
i got goo in the play.com sale as well, thinking i was missing out on something. despite listening to it repeatedly, it just feels like nothing. i can barely even remember any of it.
might give it a few more listens before it gets abandoned forever on the shelf though.
Next you should go to Fopp
And buy everything else.
sister/daydream nation...
then maybe washing machine.
Dirty

go dirtier...
and get Dirty, the LP after Goo - still poppy, with more of sprawling edgeiness...
Going back, make sure you hear EVOL, Sister then Daydream Nation - their masterpiece.
^^^^ This
is pretty much correct. But I'd go for Daydream Nation next, personally. Goo is my favourite though. Focussed brilliance.
Oh, but....
...then Sonic Nurse is great too. Just buy a whole pile of them and work your way through. Your ears will love you for it!
