My lecturer called me today to see where I was (I wasn't in class) and she says I've missed too much college and she'll fail me unless I prove myself by completing a 'task' for Thursday, despite the fact I don't actually have to be in college on Thursday. I'm also behind in pretty much other unit.
SO! Do I spend the rest of today and tommorrow doing this task, skip my yoga class on Thursday and hand it in? Then pull my socks up and work really hard for the next couple of weeks to pass the course?
Or.. Do I just keep plodding along and enjoy working at a slow pace, which will undoubtedly cause me to fail?
Or.. Do I quit the course completly?
Other points to note... The course I'm doing is an HNC in Contemporary Art, I already have an HNC in Art and Design from last year, which is essentially the same thing.
I have an unconditional for direct entry to second year Fine Art at uni next year, so I don't need the qualifiction or anything.
I've been given a project to do for uni before I start, which is going to tke a long time, so quitting this course will give me time to focus on that.
I'm also skint and working some extra hours will prove helpful in saving up for moving out in September.
Although, it's so close to the end of the year, it seems silly to quit now and I'll miss the chance to display my work in an exhibition if I leave.
Sorry for the length of this post, but I'm so undecided. Advice please, anyone?
You know the answer to this
- you don't *really* need us to tell you, do you?
No I really don't!
I want to quit and it could potentially be the most constructive thing to do..
But I don't wanna be a quitter.
Aargh. :(
Yoga? Who does yoga?
'kin yoga.
they swiped my pickernick basket!
BOOOOOO!
BOOOOOOO!
am i getting heckled again?
You were funnier when you didn't have the internet.
wasn't everyone?
Apart from Les Dawson, yes.
Me, when I have time.
And lots and lots of old ladies.
Well, this time you don't have the time.
Go to school, do your work, then sit back and enjoy the summer. You'll have months to yoga yourself to death. After you've done your work.
Mum?
why do you never call me anymore? :(
Sorry, too busy doing yoga to stop and talk. Spk soon!
Selfish bitch.
It's all about YOU YOU YOU. I hate you!
It's so hard to care when I'm busy working the muscles of my womb.
I know just what could give the
muscles of your womb a good work out.
I'm unsure of how sick to make this comment.
So I shall refrain.
I'll consider that a win then mum.
Fuck you for saying I'll always be the loser in the family!
The yoga
wasn't really a factor in my decision..
'kin yoga indeed.
yoga caused an argument that stopped my mam and i speaking for about 2 months.
my parents had a party, years ago. i turned up, half cut, as a new neighbour arrived. she'd never met anyone before and hadn't made it past the hallway without getting on the floor and showing everyone some yoga moves. she said i should try it, i said 'you can shove your bloody yoga up your arse'
neither she nor my mam were impressed.
'kin yoga.
don't do it.
quitting is never a good idea. why waste an opportunity you have put time and (possibly) effort into?
pull your socks up and try for a decent grade. you'll feel infinitely better and will give you a massive confidence boost.
don't quit
it's only a couple of days of really hard work, and it's SO close to the end of the course.
i know you don't need it, but if you don't do it then you'll have wasted the year. which'll be a blow to your confidence as well as looking bad on your cv.
Drop out if you want, I don't really care.
But don't even think about going on the dole. I don't want to pay for your lazy arse.
Get a job.
I have a job.
Note from original post - "I'm also skint and working some extra hours will prove helpful in saving up for moving out in September."
You may have guessed,
I didn't read the original post. It's more fun to jump to conclusions and get beligerent. It's how the internet works.
^Only willing to pay if the arse is energetic and perky.
:)
So you’re studying art...
and are unsure about whether or not to continue?
How about asking yourself this...
Do you stand a chance of a better career with or without a half arsed education art?
i think, to answer your question about ‘failing’…you have chosen a subject where the majority of people fail, if a fruitful ‘career’ is what you are after.
Some people do alright most don’t
Well, I'm doing a degree in it next year anyway.
And after that, God knows.
What is this task of which you speak?
Unless it's one of these:
# Slay the Nemean Lion and bring back its hide.
#Slay the 9-headed Lernaean Hydra.
#Capture the Golden Stag of Artemis.
#Capture the Erymanthian Boar.
#Clean the Augean stables in a single day.
#Slay the Stymphalian Birds.
#Capture the Cretan Bull.
#Steal the Mares of Diomedes.
#Obtain the Girdle of the Amazon warrior queen Hippolyte.
#Obtain the Cattle of the Monster Geryon.
#Steal the Apples of the Hesperides, which were strictly guarded by a 100-headed serpent-dragon called Ladon.
#Capture Cerberus, the guardian dog of Hades, using no weapons and bring him back.
You should probably stick to college.
I've to put together a board of images and text
explaining what I've done so far for the project and what I propse to do next.
Which I'm assuming wsn't on your list (I only read half).
:(
That sounds like something you could blag though?
Just use REALLY BIG images and less text... once you've started some stuff on it, you'll feel better about it.
I've got some seminar thing to organise at the moment, i've been putting off working on it for ages and wished it would go away, but this morning I just bit the bullet and got stuck in, made a few phone calls and feel a lot better that I've got things moving again on it. Maybe your project will be the same?
