ridiculously lazy waste of money or worth paying roughly 6 times as much as plain rice for?
i really think it comes out SO much better than any rice i ever boil, but i do feel like a tard paying £1.60 for a bowl of rice with a few bits of veg or egg in it...
but it really is nice, though...
what flavour?
Tis a waste
but I can't do rice at all either. I think I got some uncle ben's boil in the bag stuff last time. How do I manage to screw something up that's so easy to millions of people every day?
you can microwave normal rice.
i find it easier (to get good results) than boiling.
If I have the money I buy the micro stuff though.
for egg-fried rice
yes, worth the money, unless you usually have afternoons free.
making egg-fried rice is a faff - you have to cook the rice, dry it out for like four hours and then stir fry it.
buy a rice cooker!
fucking brilliant.
^this
I remember when my flatmate cooked
(or rather didn't cook) rice properly. It was incredibly crunchy and everyone was trying not to laugh when eating it because it was so fucking hard. It was just a chorus of crunches.
Then I did a similar thing about a month later, though not as badly.
silly boy
it tastes worse!
(L)
i love it.
invest in a rice cooker
argos has one for a tenner, though i dont know if it's any good. else, they're normally £20-30. will pay for itself sooner or later, depending on how much rice you eat!
it's not to do that 'boil in the bag' stuff
i managed to do it twice last week, with edible results. and i normally fuck up making beans on toast.
*difficult to do
i got one from ikea for £15
never looked back!
Definitely do this if you eat a lot of rice
it's so much easier, I think I got one in an Argos sale for about £15.
I'm a pro at
making rice. Comes out fluffier than a teddy bear cloud 100% of the time. In Reading I'm known as the Rice Champion.
do you use the absorption method?
i find this makes the fluffiest rice.
Yes I do.
If I see even the slightest indication of it boiling then I throw it all away and start again.
^^YES!
i never understand why people boil rice in a pot of water and drain it. That's just a stodgy fallacy waiting to happen.
I just boil the rice for 12 minutes
(Sainsburys white Basmati Easy Cook stuff)
Turns out fine. Is there some weird thing people have been fucking up?
its rice
but its not RICE. Rice needs some degree of faffing/preparation generally.
thai sticky rice is my favourite
Mmmm... mine tastes alright
I'll fuck about with it a bit next time.
I hear if you boil it, then steam it for a bit, that can work too.
Okay, so once I went to my friend's for dinner
I'd brought drinks with me in exchange for her and her flatmates paying for dinner. We ordered Chinese and I wanted plain rice rather than egg fried, so one of my friend's flatmates said "In that case, you can have the rice we've got in the cupboard". She didn't even say "Is that okay?". I was absolutely mortified but there was nothing I could do without appearing weird and fussy :(
fuck rice
I live on Sainsbury's Steak and Guinness pies.

Is Midnight too late...
...To have a second Microwaveable Bolognase?
Make your own...tis easy (and cheap!)
1) Boil rice in water with 1 veggie stock cube.
2)Add veg/meat/whatever
3) Boil until most the water has evaporated and veggies are cooked, drain excess water and voila...scrummy rice!
i am really bad at making rice
it doesnt matter if its normal rice in a packet, microwave rice or boil n the bag rice - it always comes out totally shit. is there some secret rice technique i should be using?
chris, sort it out
i love that microwave rice its pretty much the perfect rice
especially the egg.ESPECIALLY the egg version :D
