the constant LC!/JoFo comparisons. About all the stylistic comparison I can think of is the male/female vocal interplay, and the two bands don't even use that in the same way.

I guess they just apeared at the same time on here and happen to have a boy and a girl playing indie music. I think its some people being lazy and others just trying to say they are both ace hehe.
In my case
it's an ignorance of anyone else like them (setting myself up for a fall with that statement I fear).
What I'm getting at is that there are ceaseless bands who employ high-pitched American-rock-like vocals (often with a boy and girl), limp breakdown guitar solos towards the end of the 3 minutes, the odd bit of triangle playing to balance this "evil streak", etc. it's like someones taken 4 different styles of music making to me, blended them together without the all important egg-like binding ingredient and you end up with a mess that doesn't fit into any specific genre, but equally doesn't warrant the creation of a new one.
Bis and Seafood did all the above but with an edge that made them decent. These guys just all sound... whats the word I'm after... maybe; nauseous?
Yet its a pattern that someone tries to get spot on year after year after year...

Belle & Sebastian are the exception to the rule
but a solid rule it is nonetheless.
I think it's because B&S's twee-ness is subtle and not constantly shoved into one's face. Unlike Los Campesinos, for example.

was ridiculous, the guitarist [Stewart?] gave the most ludicrous little soliloquy ever. The videos and such were good, it was the bread around the meat that was rotten.
