Joy Division - Ceremony

The live version off still is completely amazing and a million times better than the new order version, even with Curtis' mic only working for a few bars. It would'ave been amazing to hear a properly recorded version because the vocals sound so intense from what you can very faintly hear on Still.

the radiohead version of it is better than the new order one, "in my opinion".

Little birds...

neutral milk hotel... breathtaking.

I love the demo I have of

"Stick to what you slip" by Future of the Left

Would love a proper version...

^^^NMH

Seconded. Good shout.

the smiths

s/t

Ceremony and Little Birds

Great choices.

I'd add the obvious, but NEEDED

Oh yeah completely

The acoustic version is really sweet though.

what about their cover of

Nobody does it better?

What about The Long And Winding Road

John Lennon plays bass on that (badly) (probably on purpose)

good one

: )

Where did you sleep last night

but it doesn't need to be properly recorded.

Elliott Smith - Another Standard Folk Song

Sometimes known as 'Crazy Fucker'.

Off Basement II.

Easyword "I Don't Expect You To Notice"

Approximately three people (at most) will probably agree with me.

Insania

Peter Andre- with Eno or some such at the helm it could have been a contender...

Lol

Across the universe

was fucking butchered.

Idlewild - Victory at Sea

I wonder why a recorded version was never released...

Radiohead - Lift

Someone give them a collective twat 'round the ear and tell them if they can pull their thumbs out with 'Nude' they can do the same for 'Lift'.

Interpol "the black ep"

sounds terrible

Yeah, it does

But there's only the Specialist on there that isn't on TotBL, and that's been re-recorded elsewhere.

I'd like to hear souped-up versions of Precipitate and Song Seven from the Precipitate EP though.

aven't eard "precipitate" how's that?

have you heard the "indepentant record store exclusive live ep" that came out a few months back. It's really good. Recorded in London.

They did "The Specialist" last time I saw them (they really swung hard on it) and we sang along -LOUD (i sounded better than paul)- nah.

i don't like my clothes anymore

But at least you know what your heart is for, eh?

The Precipitate EP is early versions of PDA and A Time To Be So Small, as well as Precipitate and Song Seven, which as far as I know aren't on anything else.

And they're ... okay. The sound isn't amazing (esp. vox), and I don't think they were good enough for TotBL. Like I say, it would be interesting for them to go back and rework them.

You're a pretty hefty fan, aren't you? Worth tracking down, fo sho. Haven't heard the record store EP: will investigate ...

More NMH

Is there a proper version of Sailing Through? I've got a live version which is my favourite NMH song, but the demo version on the Beauty recordings is a bit weak.

Talking Heads '77

yucky sound, could'ave been lush

And also

I think it's perfect as it is, the production adds to it. It's like a faint afterthought from Curtis...

I dont think much of the Radiohead version

...Galaxie 500s on the other hand

Sufjan Stevens - Majesty Snowbird

get around to recording it Sufjan!!!!!!

nmh-little birds

sufjan stevens-majesty snowbird
silver mt zion-war radio

Cap'n Jazz

Forget Who We Are

I CAN'T STAND STANDING HERE LIKE THIS
AND I CAN'T TAKE TAKING ANY OF THIS TALK SERIOUS

REM Walk Unafraid

It's on Up
They didnt notice it was the best song they had done in the previous (and next) few albums.
Killed that chorus.
You can tell they noticed this by subsequent pulsing, thrusting, cavorting live versions.
Red Square DVD or whatever it was called and Glasto 03
