I have it right now, been in hospital last couple of days, my throat has swollen to a freakishly cool size and shape, other than that it's horrible. Also I have liver inflamation and have been told to avoid and physical contact sports/lively gigs for the next 6 weeks!

Has anyone had this before, how long did it take to clear up, am I gonna die? Sympathy please.

My sister's boyfriend had it recently

she was worried; he was fine. I think thats it. I doubt he goes to too many gigs or contact sports though, so...

The kissing disease!

AUNTIELOL

My bro had this for his first year of uni.

He was just really tired and irritable for most of the time. Lasted about a year.

Oh, and yes, he had just got a new girlfriend!

Yeah, I just got me a new girlfriend too.

But she lives in Ireland. She's coming over in just over 2 weeks though, uh oh.

If she wasn't so damn amazing i'd say the same thing!

I think it's the accent, irresistable.

ooh shouldn't last too long then...

'Glandular fever usually takes two to four weeks and resolves itself without complications. In about 3 per cent of all cases, it goes on longer. After having the disease, a person will have lifelong immunity to it, so will not catch it again.'

"a person will have lifelong immunity to it, so will not catch it again"

Are you saying i'm gonna be invincible?

Sweet.

to the Epstein-Barr virus yes...

to everything else. no.

so don't go jumping off cliffs and perforating your aorta with kebab sticks anytime soon ok?

where is that from?

i don't think it's true at all.

my understanding (and i have had it) is that it's really hard to get over unless you just do nothing for a few weeks, and then you always have it in your system, although it's rare for it to flare up again.

i had splitting headaches and sore glands, you get my sympathy DS.

I plan to do absolutely nothing for the next few weeks.

Do you know how long it stays contagious for as my gf is coming over 2 weeks on friday and obviously don't want any chance of her getting it.
