They're the only band i've ever known whose songs sound as fresh and new after a thousand listens as the first time. They're the absolute perfect mean of heavy and melody, they're absolutely perfect. The best British band of the last ten, maybe twenty years, easily. Discuss (again).
you forgot to log in
as melesmeles.
^ totally this
perhaps he's just equally unignorant about an absolutely brilliant band?
infact, yeah, he definitely is, and you all should be, and i know most of you are.
i so am
im listening to thier sweet sweet love sounds right now :(
completely agree
i've been listening to them solely this week and i'm not in the slightest bit tired. i wish i was good enough at guitar to play along with them. i just shout instead.
19 days...
I'm going to lose all my indie cred points here, but:
Who?
ADVANCE ON HIM MEN
^ not possible.
Honestly
I've heard the name. I know NOTHING else.
the more you talk
the worse the punishment.
Hopefully the punishment is useful
Like, say, a short description of who they are and why I should give a damn. Youtube videos optional.
sorry
here.

I've heard that song so many times it's lost all meaning
But seriously
Are they like Rick Astley then?
no
The version that crashes your computer
and gets people calling you an 'abortive excuse for a human being' is FAR better.
But well played all the same.
x
It was pretty obvious, to be fair
At least it wasn't pictures of dissected vaginas or whatever the normal stuff is in links on here.
This band can't be that good, if you clearly don't want other people to know who they are.
unbelievable
lolwut?
salt and pepper spinderella
is going to 'soundtrack my summer'.
probably one of the newest songs to leap straight into my "best ever" list
easily
i think i've exhausted that one now.
Hennings Favourite, FTW!
but the bit where he goes
"turn on the real drums".
<3
^basically what caused my
joy/sadness juxtaposition crying episode earlier today.
I don't like the spoken word bit :(
I wish Alexei would just "do-do-do" over Kelly's "do-do-do". That would be AMAZING.
i think
thats what they did before they recorded the album? i love the spoken word bit, its a different song without it. different meaning a bit worse.
i like the segue
it's like AWESOME > AWESOME. i'm gonna put them both on an endless loop
I love that track
id like to stand in the backgroud
playing castinets and shouting loads
so rad
I've never heard any of their work
but I've heard only good things about them!
The refrain in 'Sometimes In The Bullring'
'swoon'
i like them a lot
and have really high hopes for the album.
Perhaps a LITTLE early to declare them the best [insert adjective] band in [insert time frame] yet, given that they've not released a full-length record yet?
Still, top band.
They've all heard the album already.
There was a leak...
oh of course
still, it's very early days!
My internet connection is selectively crap at downloading big files (and streaming videos) so I'll have to wait for it.
I've decided to wait for it anyway.
Which probably makes me crazy. But I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
even when my connection's ok
I do that sometimes for albums I'm really looking forward. It gives you an incredible thrill when you first put the CD in on the day.
meh, i'll get round to listening to Johnny Foreigner later on
i've got a list the size of a small novella of albums recommended to me by people glowingly, johnny foreigner's not allowed to jump the queue unless there's something in the description that really turns me on to it, and unfortunately the fact some people compare them somewhat to los campesinos does the opposite. still, i'll give them a chance. eventually.
they aint much like LC!
really.
i've also heard this
but even so, by association they're a tad damned (i don't hate LC!, just think they have an album with only three really good songs on and a lot of cack). seeing as there's a whole load of albums i'm more interested in getting my mits on (Surrounded, Bon Iver, Paris Motel etc etc) i'll put Johnny Foreigner in the queue
yeah I feel the same about LC!
3 good tunes. That Bon Iver album is so good its beautiful, I have put it on in head phones late at night each night since I got it.
^ absolutely stoopid.
they are NOTHING like Los Campesinos. Are people really that lazy that anything with male/female vocals has to be compared to the last thing with the same? Los Campesinos are twee/sugary(they seem to be the two most used terms) indie-pop fayre. Johnny Foreigner are more, much more, and will appeal to people with interests in various genres of music.
i think
its because they toured together for a while and are generally friends.
yep well said
and someone called twee_loser should know about tweeness
you are
correct
I've only heard one song.
It was "meh".
8-)
^this
I thought the thread was going to be "Every time i listen to Johnny Foreigner i'm completely amazed....that people are making such a fuss".
I just don't hear it at all...
^^^
admittedly, they've really started to grow on me and their songs are constantly stuck in my head, but i don't think they're THAT good (although their lyrics have their charms)...
p.s.
what's the jo-fo song that has the lyric 'talk about confidence'? that line has been stuck in my head all fucking day.
I have a big soft spot for them
the songs are brilliant Icn just keep on spinning them.
I completely agree
I've refrained from downloading the leaked album so I can buy it on June 2, listen to it all day and see them play that night at the Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh.
^5
(Apart from the Edinburgh bit, for which I'm jealous).
