Anyone involved in these incidents should hang their heads in shame.
You are a disgrace to Scotland. And a disgrace to the United Kingdom.
Rangers should be banned from Europe after this in my opinion. A message has to be sent out.
Why would you travel to Manchester and further destroy what little reputation you had? You lot had the chance to set an example, show how excellently behaved a group of supports can be, but no, you had to ruin it and show the world what terrible specimens you are.
Stamping on a Police officer? That's a fucking disgrace. I hope Rangers Football Club take some serious action here.
Uefa - get your arses in here and sort them out. An example needs to be made of these brainless morons who bring shame onto their club and their country.
I agree
And to think everyone was worried about the fucking Russians!
A two season ban from Europe would be a start
Yup.
Cue a million:
"It were the police just jumping on us for no reason except that I was bludgeoning an officer with a signpost."
Pure scum
i find it even more disgusting
that they're using the late great Tommy Burns' death as an excuse to get out of their shitty little parade of shame on the open top bus.
well, not even more digusting
but on the same level as disgusting. which is pretty fucking high!!!!!!
I agree that they are scum
But that point is absolute bollocks and I'm sure you know it. In fact, I'd even say it was pretty offensive for you to try and point score over it.
Yep, disgusting
Celtic in Seville and everyone was on best behaviour. They were commended for it. Rangers go anywhere and they turn into complete animals. Hopefully, now, this will be the final straw and Rangers will FINALLY be banned from European football.
i hope they get everyone in that video
but you can't say every Rangers fan is like this.
Yeah but still
a completely unacceptable and disproportionate number.
well, they keep saying that the hooligans are a minority
but in my experience it's the good, decent ones who are the minority.
Again
that is pish and I am sure you probably know it. There was 150,000 fans there and a minority acted like sub-human dicks. It's an absolute embarassment and watching the BBC News made me ashamed to come from the same country as them. But most Rangers fans as decent guys, just as most Celtic fans are.
I'm a Partick Thistle fan, before there's any accusations of Hunnery. I hate the Old Firm equally but yer points are total baws.
but you can say its more than just a 'minority'
that they claim.
there were hundreds of people in that charge.
theres lots more video evidence scattered on the web showing other incidents so this is not just a one off.
Disgraceful.
when watching the news
i noticed one wee shit at the rear of the foray, filming everything on a camera, probably to put it on youtube. that sickens me to the core - he's probably worse than the assailants.
If he's putting it on YouTube
then that's just more evidence!
exactly
it shows the complete lack of intelligence the offenders have as well.
but out of 100,000
even a few thousand is still a minority, which doesn't make this any less disgraceful.
i am really ashamed by the whole thing :(
Greater Manchester Police said a total of 15 officers suffered minor injuries and a police dog cut i
Aww.
cut i..!?
cut it's paw on broken glass.
I actually let out an audible 'Awwww!' when I read that too.
woops
cut its paw.
:(
poor doggy!
I'm not surprised
given the amount of glass on t'streets!
Was walking in and out of Manchester
city centre all of yesterday.
Was pretty rambunctious - but good natured. Typically, I get hassle from a certain type of football fan and got none yesterday.
Having said that, most of the fans I saw (lots) were hammered by noon and it was clear to that it'd just take a couple of things gone wrong to turn it ugly.
A shame it couldn't stay good natured. The preparations (aside from faulty screen) seemed accomodating too.
* clear to see
given the number of fans who went down though
this was a small minority who disgraced the colours. You could see the way things were heading when they bottled the guys trying to fix the screen and refused to board the free buses laid on to take them to a working screen. Other Rangers fans will be very much disappointed by their behaviour. Unfortunately it's nothing new, Rangers are on damage limitation, saying it was people who don't normally follow the team. Same excuse which is given after trouble at orange parades up here. Why does this happen to Rangers/orange walks all the time though ? Rangers have a history of aggro when playing outside Scotland and showing zero respect for their hosts. This is a shame as it'll be used to paint all their supporters with the same brush. As I've said before, being a Celtic fan I sometimes see people disgracing our colours too but we don't have the same kind of numbers of violent losers following the team, more likely to be assholes with stupid tshirts connecting their religious hangups to sport. Anyways, Tommy Burns RIP and the Rangers fans paying tribute are the best form of damage limitation and a tribute to their club
i agree
Hence why I hate football.

'Hence why I hate music.'
one of the fan zones was between my house and work
now i know what manchester looked like after the bomb...
yeah, it was unbelievable
this morning, in St Peters Square, I litterally had to wade through rubbish, and broken glass to get to the met! These bloody foreigners, come to our town, mess up our streets, and stab our dogs in the paw with broken glass... Its enough to make me want to rebuild the wall!
I avoided the city centre yesterday,
but my housemate was there in the afternoon and I think she felt pretty intimidated. Apparantly there were loads of people drunk by mid afternoon, and quite a few of them carrying crates of beer to no doubt carry on their drinking. She also said that people were just wandering in and out oxford road, completely obvlious of the traffic - and if anyone's ever been to manchester they'd know how busy oxford road can get! It seems like it was almost inevitable that there was going to be trouble. It's such a shame - isn't football supposed to be fun? And it feels even more out of order that they were behaving like that in another city which had only been hospitable towards them.
They did a pretty good job of cleaning up though - was in town today and I couldn't seen many signs of what had happened.
they were drunk at 930 am on my way to work
:(
Surely the first question should be...
who gave the okay for the beer gardens and pubs to serve alcohol from 9am?
I think a lot of the anger came from the fact that
the screen didn't work at whatever pitch people went to view it on, so many people missed the match.
Or so I believe.
yeah, but they were told as much on a message on the screen before kick off.
Apparently none of the smackheads could read.
This is so, so ridiculous.
What fucking knobs :(
The video of the police officer disappearing into a crowd of them is unbelievable.
BAH!
they've always been a disgrace
was at an Everton v Rangers pre-season game about ten years ago. They brought down 10,000 fans and properly kicked off. It was really terrifying since I was only a kid at the time.
Celtic fans on the other band have always seemed fine.
I would argue that point
I was once threatened with a kneecapping when I was 13 by a middle aged, toothless, female Celtic fan after they had just hammered us once at Celtic Park.
It was quite bizarre. I'm not sure she had full use of her hands though so I wasn't too worried.
Celtic fans are just as bad at times
They tried to destroy our ground when they won the title there last year :/
Killie fan?
God help you if Allan Russell is spearheading your attack this year.
He scored more goals last season than probably our entire team!
Which doesn't really say much..
He was one of the worst strikers I've ever seen for us
But he seems to have banged them in for the mini-Huns so he could maybe do a job. How does someone from Derry end up being a tractor driving, sister shagging Killie fan?
My mother's from Kilmarnock
and I think you're getting confused with Ayr United!
Ahh.
Ach, nah. You are both the same. You do cracking pies though. So well done.
agree completely
celtic and rangers fans are as bad as each other when they come to easter road. i've seen horrible stuff from both sides. it almost makes me hate celtic more because their fans tend to be really righteous about it.
kudos on yr username btw, i saw him score for us from the half way line :)
He's a true legend
Comes and watches us quite a lot as well. He once turned up in a full Burberry tracksuit. Absolute fucking nutter, but legend.
ha
he was really fat and old when he played for us but he was great at winding the opposition up :)
and now there's going to be no big screens for utd fans
thanks to all the drunk angry weegies
aye. at least some good's come of it.
ZING
I like you twee_loser, always have, always will.
if the police had had guns this wouldn't have happend!
nah, they'd all be dead from the
old firm derbys
How'd you come to that conclusion?
it wouldve happened worse
and with more dead people
Those scenes last night
Where a total disgrace. I’m ashamed as a Rangers fan that was at the game last night and had a great day up until I heard there was trouble in the city centre.
We arrived early walked about the city, had some drinks and a good sing song with Rangers and Zenit fans all seemed well. Even after the game when we were leaving the stadium the fans were all together congratulating each other swapping scarfs and tops, not till I phoned my mate who got caught up in all the shit did I know anything was wrong.
I’m sick of sticking up for my club cause of some pure scum that bring shame on us when the spotlight is on, failing screens is no excuse these folk weren’t there for the game cause if they were they would of tried to watch it anywhere rather than fighting.
Love my team despise a minority of our so called fans, the sooner they are distanced from the club the better. I don’t know how we can distance ourselves from all this Loyalist Irish shit, we were started as a Scottish football club with no religious intent lets bring it back. Also just to say many of us had a great time and that is many, I don’t think I have ever seen a city so full of football fans.
they're saying it's the biggest post-war migration of people to one place.
I hadn't seen the videos...
That's absolutely disgraceful.
I was actually a little scared to take the bus back from workto Piccadilly Gardens last night
I need not have worried; it didn't even go into the city center and stopped in the middle of nowhere. I wandered around for a bit not knowing where I was until I spotted a bus that was heading roughly in the direction I needed to go.
Excellent article
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/scotland/article3939176.ece
i had a feeling that there would be trouble.
but not like this.disgraceful scenes like that almost get me compelled to sing "up the ra".but i won't.
You can't fight sectarianism with sectarianism
