The Death Set

New Music Monday: May 19

The Death Set - Around The World (single)

The Death Set (pictured) are silly. Look at their press kit. Where a lesser band might choose a fancy set to showcase their wares, The Death Set have chosen sweaty live footage and an interview with George Lamb. The crazy bastards.

Martha Wainwright - Bleeding All Over You (single)

Martha Wainwright knows her way around a lyric, as this new single shows - in fact, she liked "I know you're married but I've got feelings too" so much that she named her album after it.

Ashlee Simpson - Bittersweet World (album)

Ashlee Simpson is everywhere because she just got married and may well be knocked up. That this is way more interesting than her record (despite not being very interesting at all) is not a good sign.

Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (album)

What is it with Australia and classy 80s-blessed synth rock? First Cut Copy, now Midnight Juggernauts... We'd make a joke about it being "daggy", but we're not that xeonphobic. So rack off.

Rihanna - Take A Bow (single)

There's a general rule that when thumpingly brilliant R&B acts go ballady, it is usually to their detriment (see also Destiny's Child). Rihanna, take a bow. And get back to the dancefloor.
