Sorry if this has been done to death but we have all rooted around those CD basement shops in the hope that a gem will appear,so what have been your gems and how much did you pay?
Last year i picked up 'Justamustache' by Thunderbirds Are Now 'Stay Afraid' by Parts and Labor and 'What the hell do i know' by Illinois all for the mighty five quid!

Pulp - Different Class

£1.50. :D

His n Hers

50p

But it had '50p' scrawled across the inlay in permanent black marker.

Win/lose.

Songs For A Dead Pilot by Low.

A Secret Wish for £2.40.

I bought a CD

by a band called Bobgoblin a couple of years back for 50p. Impulse purchase cos it had a cool cover. Now easily one of my top ten albums.

idlewild-the remote part for £1

steal of the century

my friend just gave me one of these

for the same reason

Not a CD

but I recently ordered 100 random 7" singles for £20 (including postage) from the Pure Groove closing down/ moving sale. Have been having loads of fun having a few drinks and going through them all and there are loads I like and others I have now heard for the first time - Ladyfuzz, Youth Movies, The Hot Puppies etc. etc.

The bundle did also include that Reverend & The Makers single, but hey it was fun!

I found

At the Drive-in - El Gran Orgo

and

Desert Sessions 5&6

for a fiver each :D:D:D:D:D

Jarcrew

1p + postage or something silly like that. Worth every penny!

I'm sure I've told this story before

but I do like to show off about it - my mate worked for Andy's Records when it went bust, and they were selling all CDs to employees for a pound each. I bought 80.

That's ace

I used to like Andy's Records

Yeah, they were really good

which is why robbing their store blind was so much fun!

Andy's Records ...

ah the memories ! Spent most of my first ever wage packet there in 1979 - I can still remember what I bought, worryingly. Couple of Buzzcocks singles were in there as was Kate Bush's Lionheart. I was a strange teenager.

My Latest Novel - Wolves

99p in Rounder records

liberty 37 - the greatest gift

for a dollar.

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Tom Waits - Swordfishbones
Tom Waits - The Black Rider
Killing Joke - Pandemonium
Kate Bush - The Whole Story

all that for £2

Asobi Seksu - Citrus £1

If anyone can beat...

'The Songs of Leonard Cohen' for 30p on vinyl, then I will be pretty impressed.

I also once stole 'Iowa' by Slipknot from HMV when I worked there, but I guess that doesn't count.

I got that Leonard Cohen free on vinyl!

But that's because it was in my mum's old record collection ;-)

Got In Utero

off my mate for a pound. Then began singing making him realise that he actually really liked it.

Soulbossa - Love Amongst the Stars

for 30p. In a record shop last year as well, not a charity shop. The Velocette album was also 30p. I felt a bit sorry for both bands.

Ah....

I’ve got some ace cheap stuff at the library CD sale too – in one bash recently I got Bert Jansch, Gorkys Zygotic Mynci, The Orb, Ooberman. For £50 or £1 each. Nice.

starsailor -

love is here - 2.50 (when it wasnt v old)

and a double disc funkadelic collection for a quid.

but by far the winner (of my collection, and quite probably the thread)

was my discovery of the honda cd. with the 'hate song'

'Grr song' by 'be nice to the pigeons'

for only 50p.

if i could only listen to one song ever, it might be that. + it came with a load of other cool stuff on it too.

Recently

Scott 3 for a quid. It was worth that just to see the little HDCD sign flash up on media player.

Lloyd Cole and the Commotions...

..rattlesnakes for £2.

Plus just won PJ Harvey's Rid Of Me off ebay for £1.50.

Bullet Union - Dominos Ruin

I saw this band Future Kings of Spain

support Biffy Clyro like 6 years ago and then a few months back their album was in Jumbo in Leeds for 25p promo. They were doing some sort of clearout

I also got Songs of the Blackbird by William Eliot Whitmore for free the same day, that was the best
