I seem to remember stealing this single (and CD1 of "In Your Car" by Kenickie) from Camden Music & Video Exchange when I was like...14, because I remembered seeing it on The Box(!!!) when it came out. LOLLERSKATES etc.
between them and Young Offenders Institute? They were the ones who sounded like Oasis with a rapper. Saw them once by accident - the rest of my life has been one long effort to never see/hear them again.
I heard the name Young Offenders Institute but never the records - they were the band who were going to launch the last incarnation of Factory into the stratosphere, weren't they?
christ
had this 7 when I was about 15
forgot aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall about it!
I thought music, videos and even memories of it
had been erased...
the b side,
of which I can remember completely nothing, was, as I contradictually recall, amazing.
what is it?
(youtube blocked at work)
The Young Offenders - Thats Why We Lose Control
Someone isn't probably happy it resurfaced...
"They're gonna be huge..."

What Lyle is reaching towards
is that that singer there wisely went away for four or five years before reappearing as Simple Kid.
I do remember the breathless hype around this release, and then never hearing of them again. Time hasn't served it well.
they released 2 other singles
but the album was never released...
I had both this and their second single.
The album never materialised sadly...
I really liked it. Don't know what I'd think now though. Will watch later.
so ?
if it is the young offenders
we played with them in the dry bar in manchester, thought they were shite
Do you mean the Young Offenders Institute?
What happened to them? I supported them at Jabez Clegg once. They had scary fans.
Bloody 'ell
that takes me back - They were awful. Do you remember when Symposium were on TFI as the supposed next big thing too?
Hated it then
Hate it now.
Mind you i was partial to a bit of Symposium. "We drink the sunshine, which is heaven sent, we're doing things which we only ever dreamt"
"1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 hurry children, don't you dare be late"
Lyrical geniuses before their time
"she made a joke...
about my stupid hair" - Class
the backing singers
skirts rule
I couldn't finish listening to that.
I don't remember it the first time round.
Remember when
Slipknot were on TFI Friday? That was LOLZ.
i have the "we are the young offenders" single
it's alright.
i remember seeing them at reading festival and my mate saying "it's chavs singing about being chavs. shit"
i thought it was good.
The word chav was in common usage in 1998?
wrong band.
oh right
sounds like a similar story though.
:D
I bought the CD single of this.
Why didn't they make it big
with all this DiSers buying the single ?
all three?
oh dear. this is a lot worse than i remember. :-( thank fuck for simple kid eh?
this version is particularly bad...
I don't think he must be happy to see this. Didn't it end badly with Columbia ?
Has some confusion arisen here
between them and Young Offenders Institute? They were the ones who sounded like Oasis with a rapper. Saw them once by accident - the rest of my life has been one long effort to never see/hear them again.
This is lolz for simple kid.
Only with a couple of people
