I've only just heard this record for the first time and it's amazing. Like alternative rock meets hardcore punk meets eighties cheese! Any love for it here?
It's got a song called "Alex Chilton"- I always thought that was cool cause most artists just pay tribute with lip service but The Replacements will name a song after you.
I got into the Replacements a couple of months ago and basically yeah, they sound so fucking cool. You should listen to Tim as well, it's got songs on it that redefine the word 'anthem'.
are amazing. Tim, Pleased To Meet Me and Let It Be are the pick for me, and apparently all the albums are getting some deluxe reissue treatment soon. Westerberg's solo stuff is worth investigating too, esp Stereo / Mono.
All of their albums are brilliant though. I got into them after reading 'Our Band Could Be Your Life' a few years ago and pretty much have listened to it non-stop since then. The re-issues are great. Can't wait for the 'Tim' one.
are one of those bands you love for being hopeless screw ups. I heard that after piss(ed) poor shows they used to get beat up by their fans in the parking lot. Sixteen Blue is beautiful
either most underrated or least fortunate band of all time?
i can't shout loud enough to tell the world how much i love them.
anyone heard westerberg's 'open season' soundtrack?
'the right to arm bears' is immense...
I only heard it recently as well
Love it!
Been trying, without much success, to find a tab for Seen your video.
>
maybe it gets really rubbish when you listen to it the second time
no
it pretty much only gets better...
I didn't literally mean the first time
I just meant I've only just discovered it
"Pleased To Meet Me" is a classic

Alex Chilton
is great. i covered it at one of my gigs once (perhaps twice) and i was told after one that it was the worst song in my set. bastards, it's genius.
Androgynous, I Will Dare, Answering Machine..great stuff.
I wish I'd been there
I love esoteric covers
Me and my best friend
did possibly the most shambolic Replacemats cover in Vancouver.
Little Mascara after most of a bottle of whiskey, so a fairly faithful approximation of them live.
Yes
We're Comin' Out!!!!!!!
I Will Dare
Is my fav!
the replacements
in general were brilliant.
yeah

I love it
but my favourite one is actually STINK - what a fucking great EP
Best album ever
Maybe.
When I's in college all the cool kids dug REM
the really cool kids liked The Replacements.
Is this the one PF recently gave a (reissue) 10.0? Tis good, but not that good eh.
No, it is that good
How nice to see a Mats thread on here.
Let It Be, Tim and Pleased To Meet me are all incredibly underrated albums. They're classics, really.
Fuck Yes.
Tim is SLIGHTLY better though.
^5
...if only because Let It Be doesn't have "Swingin Party" on it.
I'd say Little Mascara and Here Comes A Regular
tip it for me.
I'm not usually one to bother with rarities...
...but I've got a demo version of 'Little Mascara' that is fucking miles better than the album version.
I LOVED this when I was 15
Should probably dig it out again.
Can't believe no one's mentioned Unsatisfied yet...
I am jealous of you.
When I was 15 I was listening to Oasis.
this is sitting
in a rar file in my documents just begging to be listened to, perhaps i'll unlock the grungy goodness within this week

Well
if you've bought it you should listen to it, though I think its a bit weaker than Stereo / Mono or Come Feel Me Tremble
Yeah, it's great.
The 'anything goes' bit on Unsatisfied = musical perfection.
best album eveeeeer
Definitely in my top 10 albums ever.
