The Whiskers

www.myspace.com/thewhiskers

I keep mentioning them on here but noone seems to listen!

^^ This

The Whiskers are amazing.

myspace bands...

are they the bands that (add stupid extra bits in brackets after their name)?

The Trade

http://www.myspace.com/thetradesempire

A quality band. No idea why they arent signed yet

A myspace band

is usually a band in seach of a record deal - hence having to post their music online to secure exposure

what?

So if you were in a band your band wouldn't have a myspace? And I doubt coldplay are in need of exposure but yet -http://www.myspace.com/coldplay

don't start

I got told to eff off after trying to explain to someone that every band in the world has a myspace and the term "myspace band" makes no sense at all. Such strange little people...

Shouldn't it therefore be...

Bands on Myspace rather than MySpace band...? I'm being pedantic, I hate myself for it, I'm going for a sandwich.

prinzhorn dance school

don't have a myspace. they are against it or something. which is kind of silly.

they're also

against making tolerable music, sos yeah...

I said usually...

but obviously established bands still need to reach out to a wider audience to boost their sales - therefore they've got myspace pages too.

It's just another marketing tool. New bands need exposure to get deals, old bands need exposure to keep deals and drive sales.

jesus

Almost every band in the world has a Myspace page

So what's a Myspace band then? A band with a Myspace page? Or an unsigned band with a Myspace page? Or a signed band looking for more fans with a Myspace page?

Cobblers.

i wonder what bands dont have myspaces

would we even ever know of them? woooooo.....

There's tons

with "unofficial" pages, like Phil Elverum, for instance. And i bet there are thousands of bands out there who have never even heard of Myspace (doy), but i'm pretty sure every country is represented. Which, to me, is slightly scary.

Theres quite a bit

but most are 60s 70s bands that never realy made it but some of them are preaty good

Drive sales?

You sound like my boss. That's pretty worrying.

Not mine, sorry.

Anyone 'in search of a record deal' is probably a bit of an idiot and playing music for the wrong reasons.

Oh right

because most bands out there aren't interested in money and stuff. That's why The Beatles spent all of their career playing little gigs in Liverpool for nest to no money instead of touring the world, making millions and getting famous.

No, most bands are,

and they're all idiots too.

I'm not denying anyone the right to sell records, but any financial gain should be a pleasing byproduct to your music and not the intented outcome.

And to be pedantic - the reason The Beatles (and not "Farons Flamingos")toured the world and made millions of pounds is because they were a fantastic songwriting unit. I'm sure both bands (and anyone else with a shred of integrity) began playing music because it's one of the best and most primal art forms there is, and not because they foresaw the emergence of rock and roll into mainstream popular culture.

Whatever - I know the majority of people aren't going to agree with me. I'm happy playing in my shitty bands, fame or not, and that's all that really matters.

Stupid and naive comment...

You don't expect musicians / songwriters / artists to make money out of what they do?

Stupid and naive?

If you start a band with the sole intention of "making it", before you've even contemplated the idea of rocking out simply for the love of it, then you have lost at life.

This thread is full of morons.

Do you want me to tell you

why your band The Trade aren't signed yet?

wait,

are you just showing off bands with awesome names or do you actually like these people

I actually like them^

But yeah, We Were Promised Jetpacks is an especially good name.

blicky

http://www.myspace.com/bl1cky

a band so completely under the radar it's scary

The Popsocks

are quite good fun!

The lyrics are rather good, I like them, especially "he looks absolutely nothing like me"

Not wonderful musically, but they get away with it!

could the definition

for the term have something to do with a certain numerical range of play counts?

btw this is a really jag-inspiring thread. i shall refrain.

daily

play counts

This band Ive...

been following for a while now they've recently been signed but im shure they will still come under the loose term of myspace band http://www.myspace.com/thedawnchorusuk

This thread is just begging for jags really, but...
