Morning all,
So Jose is now in charge at Inter Milan and it looks like Hughes will get the Man City job. Big Sam is favourite to replace Hughes...
Chelsea are continuing their pursuit of Carlo Ancelotti.
Man City are prepared to offer Ronaldinho a whopping £200,000 per week.
Man United are preparing a £15million offer for Roque Santa Cruz. PocketMouse reaction to follow.
Mark Hughes however wants Santa Cruz and David Bentley at Man City, should he get the job.
Gareth Barry looks ever more likely to leave Villa Park for Anfield to boost his international prospects. To be honest, he'd be better off playing every game for Villa than 2 games in 5 at Liverpool.
Mourinho then is after Carvalho, Essien, Lampard and Drogba although the latter is also wanted by AC Milan.
Pablo Aimar could be heading to Tyneside for £6.5million. Ought to be the kind of player Newcastle fans would love.
Tottenham are prepared to pay £9million for Rangers keeper Alan McGregor.
Has Samir Nasri signed or not? Reports today that the completion of the deal has been put on hold until after EURO2008.
Hull are prepared to pay £5million for Fraizer Campbell and £3million for David Nugent.
Fulham are interested in Zheng Zhi and Paul Scharner.
Scott Carson could join West Brom on loan.
Stoke have joined Fulham in the race for Daniel Cousin.
Rangers are interested in Marlon Harewood.
Kyle Lafferty is the subject of a £2.5million + Stephen Elliott bid from Wolves.
Andy Cole is in talks with Norwich.
Dean Gerken is a target for Reading.
Cardiff City are making a move for Scunthorpe top scorer Martin Patterson.
One in Seven Premier League fans will not renew their season tickets next season after huge price hikes. I actually yearn for the day when the 'best league in the world' is played in front of half empty stadiums. Perhaps then the clubs will realise just how important the fans are and that they can't take them for granted.
Some Austrians have begged
their 102nd ranked national side to pull out of Euro 2008, fearing the worst.
As a Celtic fan, I'm happy for Rangers to have Harewood!
Hughes would be stupid to go to Man City.
Yes, Sparky would be stupid to go
But i fear that he thinks he has taken Blackburn as far as he can.
Marlon Harewood
is way too good for Scottish football.
Cannavaro's out of the Euros
torn ligaments :(
Good news if you don't like Italy.
I really dislike the Italian team (yes, I'm still bitter over Australia's departure from the 2006 World Cup).
Italy grew on me
as the World Cup went on. I quite like them. I love Cannavaro though. That is quite a bitter blow.
Admittedly I have an enormous amount of respect for Cannavaro
I just don't want to see Italy win.
Although Italy got cheated out of the 2002 World Cup by South Korea..
..so did Spain mind you.
This is bad
Italy FTW. ;(
Re: Nasri
Most of the Arsenal sites/blogs that I've read are saying the deal is 99.99% done, so I'm going to go with that.
PocketMouse reaction:
"Oh well, I guess I support Man United now then."
My Gresley shirt
arrived yesterday. It's a damn good fit.
'The Best League In The World'
Fulham, Blackburn, Reading, Bolton, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Wigan's grounds aren't exactly full-packed-busy-popular every week as it is!
here we go....
Actually
Most Reading games are sold out or close to capacity.
Yeah you're
probably right there actually. Definitely not the case with the others tho. My bro-in-law supports Boro and apart from the north east derbies and Man Utd, he has no problem getting tickets for any part of the ground the day before a match.
Excellent work.
I look forward to seeing you in it. We should go out on the town, you in yours and me in mine. And someone else in the other one I have.
Ha Ha Ha!!!!!
Class as always Bamos.
If I was around for
Zonino 3.5 I'd have worn it then.
Can I borrow it?
Sure
I'll hold you to that
Unless you're planning
to burn an effigy of Bamos..
He might as well just burn the real me.
Hang on, you're not planning this are you..?
I'm not
but kenako has the most devilish of minds.
shuuut up ht
you'll give it all away
I had a trail of pork pies and pickled eggs all planned out as well. To be honest, i think even if bamos knows about the whole plan, he won't be able to resist a trail of pork pies and pickled egss, epecially with a spot of gentleman's relish and the occasional pint of black sheep/timmy taylor's landlord to whet the gizzard.
I think it'll be a shame if Barry moves to Liverpool
I can see him getting shunted around and 'rotated' quite a lot.
That's the thing
He doesn't need to go to a top 4 club to improve his England chances, so that can't be the reason. Fair enough though if he wants to play Champions League, but I wouldn't say Liverpool are going to challenge for the prem next season.
I dunno
he is one of those players that you get the most out of by playing him constantly, and if Liverpool sell off Alonso... He also doesn't really benefit from having that many rest games, he doesn't use blistering pace, just constant dogged running. Villa played him for about 3 or 4 seasons almost constantly with no real change in form or fitness.
Hope he stays at Villa though
why would barry leave villa?
like ht27 has said he would only get a few games at liverpool compared to every week at villa.hes good but if liverpool have both gerrard and alonso fit (if alonso doesnt leave that is) i dont think he would get a game
An increase in wages most likely!
And Champions League football.
It's sad that the big 4 seem to hoover up most talent, and they can be left on the bench. See Sidwell at Chelsea- he was a key player for us, but since his move has barely played.
yeah but the best teams in europe (chelsea man utd supposedly)
hes played them both twice with villa this season.champions league isnt all that.the wages ok.but he has got into the england side by playing consistently ace with villa.not by playing champions league football and occasionally playing for one of the 'top 4'
You only want Premier games to be played in half-full stadiums?
Have you ever come across Middlesbrough before?
Haha
yes, them and Blackburn are usually good for lots of colourful seats, but I mean at the top level as well. Chairmen aren't going to take notice until it filters up that far.
I went to a game at The Riverside last season
...and it was packed. Admittedly it was against Sunderland, so to be expected I guess. Highlight was seeing the Sunderland firm getting nicked after the game. I thought it only happened in the movies.
Its not just Premier League prices
That are outrageous. And to be honest you can get a season ticket at Villa, Fulham or Wigan for only £30 more than at Lewes or Eastbourne.
You're right
£11.50 if you want to sit at Dover next season. That's in the 7th Tier of English Football. £10 to get in just to stand at the majority of Ryman Prem clubs next season. Tonbridge have increased their prices by 25%.
I think it's so disgusting
I was amazed when I first went to Bromley, and it was £10. It'll be more next year an all.
Thats to pay
Jamie cade and Leon Legge's outrageous wages :)
Lewes has seen an above 50% increase in season ticket costs, from £150 to £265. Individual games are £12, which isn't to bad but kids tickets have almost doubled. Way to pull in the young fans.
And this to watch the shower that we manage to put together before the season starts. Even Guy Butters chose Havant.
*£230, not £265*
Don't I know it.
I'm boycotting anywhere that charges £10 next season in favour of going to watch Bushey Rangers or Oxhey Jets.
True enough
I'm going to watch Ringmer and Crowborough!
with the non league teams
aren't these prices to do with keeping the club afloat rather than turning a profit?
I've said it before, but I got a season ticket for a Bundesliga team for about £90. It still pisses me off that it was so cheap!
Not really
Most Ryman clubs pay out about 3 or 4 times what they make through the turnstiles every week. Pretty everyone has a money man who is paying the wages. Some do it at a realistic and semi sustainable level, some pay way over the odds chasing the short term dream.
Hello Lewes!
The tickets for next season are ridiculous
Last season the most expensive ticket was £25 - this season that's the cheapest. All to see the Iain Dowie XI hoof the ball endlessly into the opponent's box
Haha
You're becoming what you hate.
Sparky stuff in other thread, now ignoring, etc etc
I'd prefer Roque to go to United than City. If I don't believe that he's good enough to get regular games at the former, that would make me a pretty rubbish fan, and I'm not rubbish. Hopefully he'll at least stay at Rovers for this season though.
And (hi bamos), I won't 'support' United if Roque goes there. I'll support Roque, I'd hope that he scores every game in which he isn't playing Rovers (or every game in which a United win would have no effect on or benefit Rovers). I love Roque. I don't love United. I won't love United. But I'd want to see him do great wherever he was.
Had you, before last season, ever given a shit about Blackburn Rovers?
Nope, not in the slightest
Nor premier league football.
Now I do.
Problem with that?
Right, I forget you're not allowed to support a team unless your first baby-gro had it's crest sewn on.
Not what I said at all, but thanks for putting words into my mouth.
You started supporting Blackburn because this Santa Cruz fellow signed for them. It's not a huge leap of imagination to imagine someone so fickle 'supporting' him at a new club if and when he were to move.
But hey. At least your ears managed to get through the buzzing sound that time. BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
Why is it more fickle to support a player than a club?
I supported him when he was being slated and ridiculed year after year at Bayern. Surely if I was 'fickle' I would have stopped having any interest in him at all.
In fact, I think supporting a person rather than an institution
makes far more sense.
you do, but no one else does.
if they did, women's tennis would be the most popular sport in the world.
It isn't, football, american football and cricket are.
But I'm not like anyone else
I'm different.
I'm better.
I think you're missing the point.
Well the point wasn't very clear then, was it
Or you're not the sharpest tool in the box.
I know where my money is.
I'll leave you to it. I'm off to follow whoever Daryl Clare plays for next season.
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
BUZZZZZZZZZ
Don't worry, we'll give you decent money for him & Bentley.
Will £25m do? I think Thaksin's probably got that knocking around in his office safe. Imagine that, Sam Allardyce having 25m WHOLE pounds to spend. Are there enough French/African centre-halves and half-retired stars of Euro 2000 in the world?
If he goes to Man City it's different
But I have faith that he won't.
Santa Cruz would get games at United
As long as he stayed fit. The only thing that worries me is that at Bayern he wasn't exactly good at that bit, and although nobody is as bad as Saha, we need someone who's going to be able to come in and do a job regularly. If he can do that, he'd play more games than he didn't.
...
Fulham are apparenly offering somewhere in the region £3/4m for Zheng.
I think Charlton should sell him, Ambrose plays better in his position anyway.
Charlton are apparently close to signing Stuart Fleetwood of Forest Green fame, to add the other 48 thousand strikers we have. Hmmm.
Fleetwood.
Half a season wonder.
He'll never get played.
He should go to a league 1 or 2 team where he'll at least get regular football.
Didn't he get released
by both Cardiff and Hereford only a year or so ago?
How do you feel about losing Commons, Dom?
He seems to be a player who splits the support for one reason or another.
Good player on his day
but he doesn't have enough of those days in my opinion, and when the going gets tough Commons usually gets injured. I think what disappoints most Forest fans is the way he's gone about joining Derby. He's a local lad, claims to have always supported Forest, was allegedly the highest paid player on the books yet had already negotiated this transfer long before the season's end, or so I'm led to believe.
Yeah, he came through the ranks at Cardiff, I think.
It's only last season he did owt, and that was (in my mind) entirely because of the man he was playing alongside for the first half, Mark Beesley. Beesley leaves, Fleetwood scores about three in the next 20 games.
Maybe Cardiff didn't play him with the right partner. Maybe he just loves Mark Beesley. Maybe he's a gaybo. Who knows.
He's obviously a class act at conference level
Wasn't he Hereford's top scorer in their promotion winning season too? I think he's a massive gamble at CCC level but then, what are the alternatives, some over-priced mercenary from South America or wherever?
you tell em
I think it's a good thing
that clubs are at least looking down the leagues at home-grown players who are performing well at their level.
as do I
I liked the phrase, 'over-priced mercenary from South America or wherever?'. That's all.
I could've inserted any continent
in there really I guess.
I thought Charlton had Sun Jihai?
And Zheng went back to China after playing for Palace because he didn't like England. We are talking about the former Palace player right? When we were the most popular team in the world? This was years ago mind...i suppose he could change his mind.
Fan Zhiyi.
No
you are all mixed up there.
i think roque is perfect for united
i think he would fit in way better than a berbatov or the other names floating about. Buying a bigger name would mean having to build the team around them which would mean sidelining tevez or rooney.
I agree.
I also doubt someone like Berbatov would be happy playing twenty games a season. Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo & Berbatov in the same team doesn't even bear thinking about. I'm not sure it would work, but if it did everyone else might aswell not bother.
9m for Alan McGregor
is very probably worth it. He's a brilliant keeper and superior to Gordan in just about every department.
football (L)
I really need to find myself a British team to support
I feel so left out :(
If you don't want to feel left out on DiS
Just hate Chelsea, the Premiership, Liverpool and Leeds. In that order.
and love non league football
but make sure you know every player in every team in the ryman north square second divsion east
For some reason I'm finding it difficult to post about football today.
It's all dull.
