try
johnny flynn.
Folk Off
OBVIOUS
...
But still
comedy gold.
On a more serious note, try James Yuill - not strictly folk, more folktronica - but still pretty good.
aye
no surpise is quality
As is
The Ghost
Up and coming
I saw this wee guy Aaron Wright in Edinburgh recently and he was the best folk indie kid I have seen in years. Also Ross Clark from Glasgow is good. Hope they will make a name for themselves outside Scotland soon.
Excellent at The Great escape and the banjo player is an understated comic genius.
Mumford and Sons
He is indeed. What festivals are they playing this year?

of heads and volleys?
Eugene McGuinness?
Thom Stone?
They played one of his songs on The Inbetweeners anyway.
dare i say
godwits?
I

In fact it is indeed that one of The Inbetweeners.
nope

hmmm
Angus & Julia Stone have been getting a lot of attention recently...
(from me at least ;))
Broadcast 2000
?
Oh and that Lightspeed Champion.
Angus and Julia Stone are a bit too Australia to be British!
too many other words to contend with....
I didn't see 'British'
Apologies! hahaha!
Yey!
Broadcast 2000 are brilliant, no one seems to have heard of them, even though one of their songs is on an ad.
Liam Dullaghan

Think they supported Jonnyn Flynn actually.
I guess it's more anti-folk though, whatever that is.
Not impressed...
Saw them with the Wave Pictures in support... Let's just say the Wave Pictures saved the night.
saw them support
noah and the whale and loved them
Findlay Brown
haven't heard much of him since his debut last year though...
BENJAMIN WETHERILL
see http://www.benjaminwetherill.co.uk/
He does a quality line in self-penned murder ballads, uke strums, old show tunes and George Formby covers...
Lots of good stuff in Scotland
especially Fife Kills records. My Kappa Roots, Eagleowl etc...yas!
yus
eagleowl FTW
Me
I'm so off the radar I don't even have a name, let alone a Myspace. I might play a gig one day, but I'm afraid that might mean I've sold out.

As someone also mentioned I also like My First Tooth.
Laura Sings Live is also good along with Benjamin Shaw.
Emmy The Great
Roddy Woomble's
folk album is bloody brilliant. Somehow he makes me want to go to scotland.

Not unknown but
the new Cathy Davey album is pretty decent
gossamer albatross
crap name, good band.
^ agreed.
There's a really great remix of one of their tracks, I think it's up on their myspace. Played with them in hereford and it was ace.
Also: www.myspace.com/richardpetersnapes
Richard Peter Snapes and the Lie Awakes. Accordions + Trumpets + Indie Rock + Acapella group vocals. Not as scary as it sounds!
James Orr Complex
Yes! Chori's Bundle is a lost classic & Christopher Mack is one of the best guitarists ever! He lives in Brazil now, apparently...
Aren't we bored
of posh folk, yet?
I....
...probably fall into that catagory
sorry for plugging myself
