Drowned in Sound

Having a BBQ and wanna knock up a couple of awesome dug/reggae compilations, although I don't really know where or how to start.

Inspired by the "Kutcorners" remix of Feel Good Inc by Gorrillaz, if that helps.

Cheers

*reggae

obviously.

.

Have you heard the dub/reggae version of OK Computer? It's prettttty good, especially the versions of Let Down and Airbag.

Oh, and you'll need Johnny Too Bad by The Slickers as well.

yeah, the Easy Star All*Stars

did a dub version of radioheads album, called radiodread.

Nice one,

I'll check it out.

Love the Dub Side of the Moon. That's awesome.

the cover of fever by

junior byles is ace - its on jonny greenwood is the controller compilation cd

Since you're going down that route...

Dub Will Tear Us Apart by Jah Division might be worth a mention...

ok. stuff you need to include:

The Black Seeds (into the dojo, keep on pushing, on the sun...all excellent albums)

Fat Freddy's Drop - Based on a true story (album)

Mishka - self titled album (straight up reggae)

Matisyahu - (Shake off the dust...arise, Youth, both amazing dancehall/reggae albums) Listen to the song king without a crown.

Roots Manuva - Dub Come Save Me (album)

Salmonella Dub - Killervision (album) check the song 'for the love of it'

Cheers for these..

Love the Matisyahu live record

Didn't think I'd see Killervision mentioned!

That's +100 cool points for you right there.

Also, African Head Charge - In Pursuit of Shashamane Land. And some Black Uhuru.

i'll be checking out your recommendation...

as you clearly have brilliant taste it must be smashing. nice one.

i think i listened to my first ever dub album yesterday

it was "scientist encounters pac-man" by .... scientist. i enjoyed it very much, so maybe get a load of stuff by him. or one of the trojan box sets.

Get hold of some Trojan boxsets

If you shop around you can usually find them cheap. 3 cds of class usually for under a tenner. The Dub Rarities one is da bomb, though it might be awkward to get hold of.

^

the trojan box sets are mostly great, the old-school ska one particular.

'ring the alarm' must be on any reggae compilation. fact.
