It's my favourite album of theirs, the small scale instrumentals like This Gentle Hearts... up through the more aggressive Take These Hands... to the epic Triumph of our Tired Eyes, it's the most varied yet consistently brilliant.
Born Into Trouble As The Sparks Fly Upward is very similar to He Has Left Us Alone...
These two albums are the only ones of theirs i like, because they're mainly instrumental and i think on later albums Efrim's voice sounds like a cat going through a mangle and i find the whole experience painful
I think ASMZ have been completely ruined by his voice. The vocal tracks on the first two albums are superb, but for some reason he seems to strive to sing entirely out of tune on subsequent releases.
Seeing them live was one of the most devastating, ear-damaging experiences of my life.
and I don't think he sings out of tune because live it is sung exactly the same which would be pretty hard to recreate by a geniunely bad singer, it is just very strained like he is singing his heart out, its even better when they all do it.
Born into trouble is DEFINITELY what you should purchase next. Like me, my favourite 2 silver mt. zion albums are "born into trouble..." and "he has left us alone..."
I would also strongly suggest Enjoy Eternal Bliss by Yndi Halda
or something by Red Sparowes
and yes I know it's obvious but... ( ) by Sigur Ros
by Do Make Say Think. Each track is awesome and stands out totally from the one that preceded it in a way that very few instrumental bands manage.
Also have to mention their s/t album which isn't nearly as good as a whole but ends with 'the fare to get there' a 16 minute chill out bass driven bliss out that actually rivals Mogwai Fear Satan for 'best instrumental track ever'.
go for the 'palmless prayer' collab with World's End Girlfriend - it is a far more beautiful and emotionally affecting album than any of their others (and that's saying something).
get "Goodbye Enemy Airship, The Landlord Is Dead" first, as for Mono, Palmless Prayer with WEG is astounding, but I haven't heard much of the stuff they did on their own.
Born Into Trouble
without a doubt their best release.
Could've Moved Mountains is 10 minutes of the most stunning strings and guitar i've ever heard.
Seconded
It's my favourite album of theirs, the small scale instrumentals like This Gentle Hearts... up through the more aggressive Take These Hands... to the epic Triumph of our Tired Eyes, it's the most varied yet consistently brilliant.
horses in the sky if you like lyrics/vocals
born into trouble if you don't, this is our punk rock should be got just for the last song, the pretty lightening paw ep is worth a shot too
^ not that helpful
depends what you're after.

bingo
christ I can't stand his voice. He's totally ruined this band for me.
The first two albums are stunning. Oh, and the first track off 'This Is Our Punk Rock' is also amazing, but everything after that...
EEEEEeeeeEEEEEEEoooooWWWWWrrrRRREEEEEEEEEEEE
^Wrong
That is all.
it's not "wrong", it's opinion.

I couldn't get into his voice at first, but it's really grown on me now. I saw them live in April, and it was superb.
But, y'know. Whatever.
I like his voice

Horses in the Sky
Tis Greatness. It has the epic instrumental bits, superb lyrical mash-ups, choral and solo singing. It's my favourite of theirs.
Horses In The Sky
is my favourite by far, but the others are all great.
Born Into Trouble...
is their best album in my opinion
Just get all of them.
Horses in the Sky first.
Mountains Made Of Steam is just the best song I've ever heard, ever.
As everyone else has said...

^ this (without the ( ) recommendation)
.
Aye yeah, i have the Yndi album, and both Red Sparowes albums, and ().
.
Thanks everybody, i was going to go for Born into trouble and horses in the sky anyway, so consider them purchased.
While i'm here I might as well ask the same about Mono and Do Make Say Think?
I have "You are there" and "you, you're a history in rust"m so where next with these 2?
Thanks again.
For Mono:
Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined, or maybe try the collection of EP tracks (Gone)
For DMST:
I'd say Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn
& Yet & Yet OR Goodbye Enemy Airship... by DMST
Walking Cloud & Deep Red Sky / One Step More and You Die by Mono.
Don't expect either to be as good as You Are There
For
Do Make Say Think, all of them. They're just awesome, really. And see them live, too.
.
This is really starting to hurt my bank balance.
^yes.
Buy all of DMST's albums.
Don't buy any more Mono albums.
Woot.
Definitely 'Goodbye Enemy Airship'
by Do Make Say Think. Each track is awesome and stands out totally from the one that preceded it in a way that very few instrumental bands manage.

^ not heard this, but will investigate
Check out Mono's collaboration with World's End Girlfriend
called Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain, it's stunning
Nah,
just get everything WEG's done solo. 10000000000x better.
Do Make Say Think
get "Goodbye Enemy Airship, The Landlord Is Dead" first, as for Mono, Palmless Prayer with WEG is astounding, but I haven't heard much of the stuff they did on their own.
