Drowned in Sound

I was really shocked to hear about this, I really liked Earl Brutus (and some of my friends would have died for them). Met him once when he was drumming for the Parkinsons, lovely chap.

Nice obituary here:

Where's the DiS obit? Are Earl Brutus so forgotten or is it a masterpiece retrospective in-the-making?

  • Oh for fucks sake

Genuinely very saddened by this. I actually listened to 'Tonight you are the Special One' last week. Can't help but wonder if they were around right now just how popular they'd be conidering how many acts sound so similar in this current climate (Fuck Buttons and Trans Am spring to mind initially). Great fontman, great band. Very sad.

  • Fuck.

Wow. I really liked Earl Brutus as well. There isn't a lot I can say that hasn't been said, other than this is properly sad.

I'm going to leaf through their stuff this evening and play Bonjour Monsieur as loud as I possibly can at Zonino next week.

    Sad news.

    • ^ Now that is a good idea!

I'd also like to add that Earl Brutus are in my imaginary top 10 gigs of all time list thanks to Reading '98 I think it was. In a tent, at teatime, blew me away. Awesome stuff.

    • saw him drumming for jamc

were the first band I ever interviewed for my very first fanzine back in 1997/8 sometime. I saw them support The Dust Junkys at the Roadhouse too. Gutted.
