no trigger-happy subscribers? what? has it disappeared already? has everyone unanimously decided that it's my turn? does the list that i get by clicking last 7 days on beta update in real time, giving me charts to this minute? if so, does using different parameters by way of a slightly lagged 7 day period to everyone else render this thread void? does the phrase 'slightly lagged 7 day period' sound a bit wrong? will my chart ever show any fucking variation? hello!

these guys

i'd wager there was probably some smut involved in the production
of whatever royal trux you were listening to
Sounds like it
The Heroine Sheiks guy is probably guilty too
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shannon_Selberg
Heh
this is new to me
"His onstage behavior has included performing naked except for strategically placed shaving cream, performing with mousetraps "dangling from his ears""
I'm sure GG had already done that.
Shannon Selberg
doesn't eat poo on stage because he was raised as a classy gentleman.
i'm not really feeling the
connection between "squealing, shrieking, and general lunacy" and "strategically placed shaving cream", seems like he might be missing a trick there...
have you read this
http://www.furious.com/Perfect/iloubot.html
I have now!
Still haven't heard Metal Machine Music though. Even though I probably have many cds that are just the diluted form of the original Juno version.
I'm literally 100% sure it is a composed work of genius that he tried/tries to disguise with bare faced lies, mind.
i havent either
its an interesting take on it, maybe he just didnt want the record company making money out of it. have you heard 'the legendary guitar amp tapes'?
i liked this bit
"I'm currently growing a Neil Young to create variations on a file I'm currently fascinated with named "Arc." I think my Neil Young will be better. He has no history of opiate abuse. Thank God."
i saw neil young do a daily show interview once and he said he had to say hello to his dogs because he didnt want them feeling aggrieved that he hadnt mentioned them on air
...
That's whats wrong with current 'popular' music- not enought nutters. Nutters make the best music, they always have. They have interesting and unique perceptive takes on the world and music.
That Les Savy Fav bloke understands, and whilst the execution might be a bit off with his music, he knows how to be a real rockstar.
Hearing some normal bloke sing about anything is boring to me - why do I choose Elliott Smith over Damien Rice or whatever the lastest cock-a-hoop songwriter happens to be? Because one guy was a bit fruity and killed himself.
i suppose you could argue bono was a nutter though
maybe there's degrees of nuttiness, hmmm
im always a bit surprised by neil young's singing voice in relation to what he actually looks like, the lack of bassy baritone is momentarily confusing.
He only sings
at frequencies which his dogs can hear.
That doesn't work does it
ive been trying to think of some way to make it work that doesnt involve
neil young plotting canine world domination conspiracies but i got nothing.
I'm thinking
the instrumental albums have him singing at high frequencies to make his dogs feel special. Definitely.
This is prime
last.fm thread summary post material
"les savy fav - keepin' it realer than damien rice"
I think this might just be the start of

Scrobbling
I had a really tough time on last.fm this week.
I might tell you all about it later.
ps. not scarlet_apples cos SHE KNOWS!!!!!!
Did they tag all the riot grrrl as riot boi?
haha
good one.
Riot Boi is my new favourite genre
Sleater Kinney jamming with Dizzee Rascal
oh god
that would be terrible :(

WELL BASICALLY...
scarlet_apples subscribed me to last.fm AGAINST MY WILL. Meaning I could obviously see everyone who looked at my profile. And this led to massive paranoia and assuming that everyone who looked at my profile did so because they either had a massive crush on me, or because they hated me and also that if i hypothetically had a crush on anyone on my last.fm then I would be thinking "OHMYGOD, THEY AREN'T LOOKING AT ALL MY INTERNET PROFILES, WHY DON'T THEY CARE ABOUT ME!?!?1 WHY DON'T THEY LOVE ME!?!?!", and then thinking "well maybe they're not looking because they don't want to be obvious", and it was awful.
And she did it because she KNEW I would hate it.
And Alcxxk tried to help me, so thanks a lot Alcxxk.
That's it.
Needs more numbers.
you didn't look even ONCE!
:'(
I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT EXISTED
god. Post it on my facebook wall. That's my gospel these days in terms of what's happening and where.
Knowing who is watching
ain't no benefit :(
Come to think of it I always look at the people who've visited mine and they rarely have any artists in common with me. So it simply must be the seeing the (attractive sasquatch man) profile photo and wanting to know more. Hmm.
yeah the people on mine usually have the odd band in common
that ive been listening to but beyond that not a lot. I put it down to me being attractive too.
I put it down to the sasquatch guy
but that isn't me. I still can't even grow a proper beard. Those free jazz fans are looking for something that I just don't have

My subscription ended! :(
i wanna know what douchebag has been listening to
Santana feat. washed-up rockstar of the moment?
what douchebag indeed
I want to understand the train of thought behind that kind of collaboration
"Shit I've got no money cause I spent it all on smack an' hoes"
"I know, I'll work with Carlos, cause no-one has ever done that before!"
I think Santana
hires them to stand next to him and make him look good. The guy from Matchbox 20 is no match for his guitar sex face.
do you think chad kroeger
ever runs out of money for smack an' hoes?
Heh
well he did spend a fair bit on his
old house with new guitars
simultaneously driving 15 cars
that time he actually took stuff from a hotel mini bar
etc etc etc
not to forget his bathroom he can play baseball in
his dogs aren't skinny
cos he feeds them dog treats
Being in Nickelback is easy!
all this list of stuff reminds me a bit of l ron hubbard
do you think chad is planning on starting his own religion and krogerology will be the new world order in the next century?
I've already joined Anonymous.
to prevent that happening.
do you think a mere mortal like yourself
can prevent this, kroger can drive 15 cars at once, john prescott could only be driven in 2, how many can you?
what
what?
in the butt?
who are you and what have you done with douchebag
I'm sorry, he's turned to Kroegerism.
No
The Feds provide him with a lifetime supply. Keeps him quiet and keeps the nation at peace. It's like the FBI selling coke in the ghettos.
Yay!

The Acorn album was shit, btw
I regret listening to it. The rest, however, I do not. Apart from maybe Of Montreal.
And Superchunk
I found myself thinking "Why aren't I just listening to Archers of Loaf?" quite a lot during it. But then, if I hadn't have listened, I wouldn't have known.
superchunk are kinda boring, huh?
They are
but to be fair, a lot of stuff sounds boring upon first listen so I shall give them another chance. Also is "if I hadn't have listened" bad English? I can't decide.
I've decided it is
i think there's something just inherently a bit boring about superchunk
i always found myself thinking 'if this song was about a minute and a half shorter', but then realised i just wanted to listen to gbv, so i did...
i think the 'have' is superfluous, i dunno that its bad anything other than stylewise though, archaic forms and that. i dunno, its late...
so...

2: My favourite band in the world, bar none.
3: This is definitely in my top 3 favourite albums of the year thus far.
4: I listened to Dead Media. I am nearly making myself like it.
5: The new record has leaked and I cannot find it. Woe.
8: I wish that Greg Gillis would get together with some rapper and some pop song writer and make an album of all original material.
9=. The Hot Rock is actually a good album, even if it's not one of S-K's best (in my opinion)
can you actually not find 5. or is that irony
i cant tell...
No I can't.
Really I can't.
All the links have been deleted.

I'd be very grateful.
mmm, i dont got it no more
will have a look see though, brb
thanks dude.

Are Telepathe any good?
I was hopeful on hearing they were involved with Dave Sitek, but the myspace stuff didn't jump out at me really.

1. Nah Und Fern is incredible. It hasn't dated in the slightest, unlike a lot of 90s electronica.
2 & 3. Saw them this week.
4. Protal is reeeeeeally good; I'm a sucker for Takoma-inspired folk but he really does bring something new to the table with all the electronics and tape manipulations.
6. The Gas boxset put me on a minimal techno kick. This album is fucking brilliant; so so melodic and really complex. Got overlooked a bit in favour of The Field last year.
That Gas boxset is tempting
If the Astral Social Club bloke likes it that's good enough for me!
I have listened to that Health album plenty and man it is boring. I wish the songs were longer. I'm sure they are good live.
Buy it!
It's incredible. It's such an all-encompassing sound.
Was listening to the Health//Disco album, rather than the self-titled album. It's good, but I find it leaves me a bit cold.
This album
sounds sort of cold and distant, but my main problem is that all the tunes just stop just as they're about to start kicking arse! Especially the first track. Reet gets on my wick.

Not enough people listen to Dandy Warhols either.
Indeed. I know they got quite a bit of a exposure a few years ago,
but really everybody should be listening to them.
And I got hold of Meho Plaza's album a couple of days ago, can't stop listening to them. Remind me of GBV a lot.
7/10
You're going soft.
Coliseum are supporting Converge no? I'm afraid for my ribs.
'Knut' sound good.
I know
My last fm charts need to mtfu for sure. Knut are mint - a more metal sounding Botch would be my very broad description of them. Yeah, Coliseum are supporting Converge - should be good.

Some of that is brutal surely
Charles Bronson are a bit. TITD certainly are. I'm guessing Shop Assistants aren't but could be wrong.
True
Talulah Gosh and Shop Assistants = offering my brain aid through a vicious hangover last Sunday. This week = hopefully more noise (Skullflower and Wold), as well as Notorious B.I.G.

Chrome are good
I thought they'd make my chart this week, Tristan sent me mp3s.
What do Bongwater have going for them, apart from a ludicrously good moniker?
I love Bongwater, but I don't think they'd be to everyone's taste
They're somewhere between The Butthole Surfers and The B52s. Bizarre spoken word monlogues, mainly about sex or celebrity, and even more bizarre cover versions. A very odd band

Metallica are good.
Load is my favourite Metallica album :)
I like this chart. It's quite diverse imo.
I was being a little harsh

I just don't like the artists that much !
Also, Load is nowhere near the best Metallica album. Master of Puppets wins, hands down.
Yeah it isn't their best work
but there are many reasons as to why it's my favourite : ) : )
FIVE! FIVE! FIVE! THE NUMBER OF...oh wait.
1) Comets on Fire 52
2) Atlas Sound 50
3) Piebald 48
4) Deerhunter 26
5) Converge 24
5) Mudhoney 24
5) Company Flow 24
8) Liars 18
9) Hot Club De Paris 13
10) Slayer 8
I'm not very happy with this chart.
1) I'm very excited for The Luminaire date. Along with Kyuss, they are a good summer soundtrack. Men with beards like that make good music, always.
2) Surprised by how good this is. Beautifully noisy. Even if Bradford Cox is a bit of a dick and looks like he needs rehab and a good square meal.
4) Decided I definitely don't like Deerhunter though.
5) a) PAAAAAAIIIIIN
9) Shit name, and the accents are offputting, but I like their Minutemen/Kinsella esque flourishes.
Re: Comets on Fire
I need to dig out Avatar again; really enjoyed that when I first heard it, but it got relegated to the bottom of a pile for some reason.
come to The Luminaire on 5th July!
There'll still be tickets. It's a saturday and it will be LOUD.
My personal favourite of theirs is Field Recordings From The Sun. Properly tripped out and woozy.
:(
Can't make it. Supposed to be driving to Bristol to watch Arnie films with various peeps. Bugger.
Doesn't sound like a bad evening
to be fair. My cousin's band is supporting Arnocorps in Sunderland. Yes.

10 Ha ha ha ha! I don't think even Saga FM plays Chris Montez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Montez) any more but I've always had a formative years listening to local BBC radio-related soft spot for his supper club hits and some downloading later here he is.
