      4. I can't believe I've never listened to them before, amazing stuff, I bought a ticket for the Apollo gig as well.
      6. Just bought my ticket for End of the Road festival, should be great apart from the fact I couldn't get any friends to go.
      8. his latest album is just as great as Speak Volumes.
      10. unbelievable guitar tones invoking different sunsets.

      • I approve of this chart.

Which Mogwai album(s) were you listening to?

And I'll go check out Trouble Books now, they sound good!

        • thanks!

i picked up young team and rock action, i have Mr beast winging its way soon as well. any other must listens?

trouble books actually have the album up for free on my website, i'm actually thinking of making a label to release it in the uk.

          http://www.myinlandempire.co.uk/?p=129

          www.barkandhiss.com - is their website.

          • You really can't go wrong with Mogwai

in my opinion. I love every album.

I'd heartily recommend you obtain Ten Rapid as soon as possible, there are some fantastic songs on there. That's probably my favourite, but you really can't go wrong with any of their albums.

Cheers for the link, I'll listen now.

      • Oh that Michio guy

is the one who did the collab with Boris I believe? I've done a bit of rummaging based on your chart and found his solo album on emusic. Sounds awesome. Saved for later.

This sort of discovery is why DiS/last fm is a great combination.

        • .

aye michio is amazing, solo or in other bands. just the tone of his guitar in sunset notes is stunning, i don't know how he does it. yeah and he's pretty much a touring member of boris at the moment.

        • Don't get that, go for his band effort

They're called Ghost, and they take a lot of drugs and make great music. Trust me on this one.

Awesome new records from Grouper and Lucky Dragons. Amazing 12" from Guillaume and Killa P's mixtape is surprisingly solid.

    • yep

I had tired a little of Lucky Dragons, but the new record is very very good. The Grouper record will no doubt feature on quite a few year end charts too I believe.

    • Yay Shackleton and Villalobos :)

have you got the new EP by anychance or are they older tunes?

      • The Villalobos

listens are for the new Ep. It's fucking lush if totally impossible to play in a club.

I think the Shackleton listens were mostly to the Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts remix of "Next to Nothing" its a few months old but I totally slept on it at the time. It's so so so good.

        • nice

I will have to check those two out.

I like it when Villalobos goes all imposible to play in club mode hehe.

    • !!

There was a (VxPxC) cd-r in the Juno section of the record shop this week. I almost bought it because I remembered it from thee last.fm chart of goodness. Yet another example of how the last.fm chart thread almost influences my life.

      • theyre really great

i highly recommend them. i dont really know what you call that kinda thing, the volcanic tongue website called them 'destructo-rockers' which sounds like a cool thing to call them.

ive never seen anything by them in the juno section of any local record shops here, must go to glasgow. i ordered a couple of these but they seem to be taking a fair while to arrive...:(

        http://www.vxpxc.com/ARTIST.html

        • cool

Volcanic Tongue reviews are a bit confusing. He clearly loves absolutely everything ever. And I don't know what 'gutter-punk splazz' and 'tone float' mean :(

  • I dont get Last FM

I have an accout and thought about using it a few times but both times just got board of the scrobelling thing and deleated it.

I'm not a fan of listening to stuff on my computer if I can help it too, the sound sucks, so its only the random crap I download that will be counted. Whats the point in missing out the majorite of everything else I listen too.

    • I listen to everything on my laptop now

I can send mine through my amp though into my lovely wharfedale speakers... I totally agree with the crap sound qual thing, its just not worth it if you can't get the quality. Though you can sort it so it scrobbles from your iPod.

      • Yeah if I had a good stereo/soundcard

I might listen more on my laptop but I dont. And I dont have an iPod I have some shit one called an iScream and I barley use it wouldn't be worth a scrobble.

I just know my laptop would die if it was the only thing I listened to music on and I would loose it all, and I ant aford to do that... or get a hard drive big enough to stor it hehe

    8. Boris - 29
    9. Magik Markers - 27
    10. El-P - 20

    1. Nah Und Fern is still absolutely mindblowing.
    2. Would really recommend their EP to anyone who digs 60s psych of more recent stuff like Comets. Amazing guitar sound, great drumming, some really tight organ parts, tons of reverb. Great stuff.
    3. Got The Journey EP. Brief but sweet.
    6. At All Ends is one of the most phenomenal noise records I've ever heard.

    • excellent chart

      I love Crystal Antlers.

Which is the best place to start with magik markers? I've heard good, sonic youth shaped things about them...

      • Thank you sir

Yeah Crystal Antlers are brilliant (if very, very COF-esque) aren't they? Can't wait for a full album.

Magik Markers can be a bit hit and miss as they release a load of CDRs which aren't always the most essential things ever. It's the obvious suggestion, but I'd go for Boss. More song-based, some very, very SY moments (Ambroglio, who played with Ben Chasny on the Six Organs tours last summer) sounds very like Kim Gordon at certain points. But it's a great mix of all-out guitar noise, some weird, sinister piano ballads and some great noise pop songs.

    • That

Gas box is on the way!1 Exciting. Crystal Antlers sound like they could be good but that is a baaad band name. Good chartin'.

      • But their drummer is called Sexual Chocolate

        so they win, ultimately.

        • Their drummer is Mark Henry??

I'm a fan of Kid Millions from Oneida, he is good. Are you going to Supersonic?

          • Lolz

If only. Sadly, he now seems to be referred to as Kevin Stuart on their myspace. Maybe the original is filing a law suit.

Sadly, I'm missing out on Supersonic because I'm a fucktard and I'll be working over that weekend, serving food to the landed gentry of Henley. The line up looks absolutely ridiculously awesome although I suppose the knowledge that I'm missing out is offset by the fact that had I gone, my gf would have been whining throughout the entirety of Earth's set.

  • Fron' of ya crib soundin' like Chinese New Year...

I fucking love G-Rap for cheering me up.

    3) I really enjoy it when they're all woozy and wandering. The more ballady/ lyrics orientated stuff doesn't go down so well.

4)a) I keep forgetting Meanderthal in album of the year lists. Amazing amazing album. And now they're at ATP as well!!!

    4)c) AIDS! HIV! AIDS! HIV!
