Probably the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life. He reduced the crowd to pandemonium.

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot you all watched on the telly and decided Glastonbury was shit. Oh well. I had a brilliant time, I hope you all had a great weekend sat in front of the telly moaning, Sucn interesting lives you all must lead.

I haven't watched telly all weekend.

I'm sure it was ace though. I love Jay-Z.

We were loving it!

Glad you had fun, seeing Jay-Z on Thursday. Tres excited!

Sorry, just got home!

And see loads of people slating it

Jay Z was fucking immense. You should be excited.

Aye

BBC3 showed the whole set, Zane Lowe's face at the end of it looked like he was about to explode with cum.

Not surprised Glasto and Radio 1 have started to fellate his performance

they might as well shout 'VINDICATE ME' at the TV.

Thing was

it was actually incredible, and they took so much shit for booking him, a lot of people should be face deep in humble pie

Maybe he was

but it's getting sickening...just stop the endless PR machine and be gracious you cunts.

glastonbury was

shit this year and i didnt even have to watch it on tv to tell you that. it has been shit for a good while now

...

most people I knew thought Jay-Z would be one of the few reasons for going to Glastonbury.

Aside from Noel Gallagher, did anyone for one moment doubt that Jay-Z - y'know one of the most successful musicians of all time and an amazing songwriter and performer - would be anything other than amazing?

Maybe they did, but I didn't hear about it.

Really?

You must avoid the mainstream media quite well then.

u say that

like it isnt true :p when everyone clearly knows it is

I liked it

when it was all fields.

Yeah it was terrible

Cut Copy
Jay Z
Leonard Cohen
Vampire Weekend
Foals
Los Campesinos!
Hot Chip
Neon Neon
Young Knives
MGMT
Holy Fuck
Band Of Horses
Yeasayer
Stars
Does It Offend You Yeah
The National
UNKLE

Just the bands I saw. All shit.

Foals were extremely bad

i thought that the BBC were doing one of those shred things when they played Balloons

^^^ This

Amazing so much better than last year! So many brilliant bands!

Los Campesinos! Twice!!
Holy Fuck
Battles
Caribou
Laura Marling
Leonard Cohen
Neon Neon with Har Mar!!
MGMT also with Har Mar!!
Edwyn Collins
Franz Ferdinand
John Cale

And Many More!

For £170 plus third world facilities

I'd expect a lot more.

£155 mate

you had your eyes taken out.

Seriously, get over it.

Whats with all the bitterness?

some people didn't/don't want to go to a festival you enjoyed.

Seriously, get over it.

Double standards much?

I'm just replying to a fuckload of bitterness being thrown, I feel unfairly, at something I thought was excellent. But yeah in future I'll just keep my comments to myself and agree with the prevailing masses.

How is it double standards?

you started the thread, the second post was a link to 200 plus post thread that was almost all praise for Jay-Z's set, nearly everyone is agreeing with you. I just think it's odd that you're getting all arsey with people who aren't agreeing

Don't be a

hater.

I remember when it was £60

.....and even then we used to sneak in :D

^this

I really like some of those bands, but no REALLY GOOD bands to make it worth the ridiculous price tag... none that set it apart you know.. eg. latitude has loads of great bands, but also Joanna Newsom! And others. I'm sure you guys had fun. I just know I would hate it... massive crowds. And not ENOUGH good music...

In fairness

a whole stack of the Latitude bands played Glastonbury. Add to that that Glastonbury had more bands in one day than Latitude has the entire weekend (literally), an extra day and a shit load more other stuff. £25 extra starts to look like a complete bargain.

rubbish

my point is there are far more 'special' bands at latitude, and loads of other stuff...literature tent, comedy tent, Radio 4 tent, cabaret, a forest, film arena, a lake with a pimms bar on it. ALWAYS something to do. Who cares if it has more bands in a day at glasto than latitude has in a weekend... I can't travel through time and see all of them can i?!?!?!? And there are only 25000 people there. And lots of other things I can't be arsed to explain. For me and my friends, its such a good weekend, unmatched by anything else.

And as for ' a whole stack of the bands at latitude played glasto' i think that was actually the point i was trying to make... all the bands I would have seen at Glasto are at latitude, and more fab ones too.

Fair enough

if you prefer Latitude. I've got a soft spot for Secret Garden Party for the same sort of reasons (though not this year - the line up is really dire). And liking the line up more is pretty much the best reason to go to any festival.

Sorry if I'm wrong, but it does sound like you've never actually been to Glastonbury if you're trying to compare the non-music related activities. And £25 extra over the cost of Latitude hardly equates to a ridiculous price.

Double standards from Eavis and his daughter bint

Tickets haven't sold becasue of Jay-Z ...they hardly moved to quell this theory, calling people narrow minded and blaming the weather, instead of toss line up and site.

But wehn Jay-Z is quite good, which anyone with any sense knew he would be, they all come out in some 'TOLD YOU SAY' tirade.

well done, you went to Glastonbury,

you had a good time. We're all really pleased for you.

Cheers, good to know you're on the team

I just found it strange to find a lot of people juding a live music event they didn't attend by what they saw on TV, given that live music on TV always sounds flat.

Jay-Z

did look a crock of shit on TV, but then If I'd have been there I would have been watching Massive Attack anyway !

i watched it on telly

i thought the linr up was great.my only problem is the crowd.no movement!jay z looked immense

Was weird at the fron it was really dead

But further back where we were everyone knew all the words and was going mental

im glad it was good :)

i really dont understand peoples problem with jay z headlining.it looked far more exciting than the verve.also..why werent foals in a tent??!!

I couldn't give a rat's

toot if Jay Z played the Pyramid stage from dawn til dusk each day, he wear's sunglasses like my Nan which makes him Top Fella in my book, any man who can rock the Sunny Man is fine by me - I was more concerned that the Pigeon Detectives got such an immense response.

Wassup with that then?

you're right,

it was incredible and this is coming from someone who knew no jay z songs or was particularly bothered about him playing. the atmosphere was amazing, it's hard to slate it if you weren't there, it just doesn't compare.

I just watched it on youtube

I'm rather blown away by it's unprecedented awesomeness...it's ...oh wow.

The whole weekend was utterly brilliant

and reminded me why it isn't "just another festival". I've been getting increasingly sick of all the pointless carping about it by people who don't go...

And what's that about "third world facilities"? It's the only festival I've ever been to where there was hardly ever any kind of queue for the loos, people were cleaning them constantly and the sinks all had soap for God's sake! And there's the small matter of being able to eat much better than most people probably do at home...

The music was pretty tasty too.

Don't suppose anyone read The Sun today?

And that dirge 'Bizarre' column. Fucking hell I hate that shit. Saying Jay-Z was distinctly average and half the crowd there also thought so.

Also bumming the ting tings into oblivion. Arrrrrgggghhhhhhh.

j-z's twas just one of many brilliant sets over the weekend...

i for one had a totally and utterly fab and great time!
xxx

Yes, yes

I saw this, what a fucking disgrace.

There was a quote in it, that read "jay-z encouraged middle class teenagers to wave there hands in the air like they just don't care" or something like that.

o_o

Jay Z's set was average.

You all just want to believe it was amazing.

I heard from friends

that Jay-Z was fantastic. I on the other hand was watching Battles so I win

Battles were sublime.

I was devestated that they had to cut their set short. I shouted rude things about CSS and felt quite bad afterwards.

CARIBOU

CARIBOU!
CARIBOU!

Were fucking awesome, and there were only a few people.

Oh wait - then there was vetiver, tunng, black mountain, yeasayer, JAY Z (fucking incredible), and Kings of leon, glasvegas, vampire weekend, neon, neon, hot chip with wiley, groove armada.....hmmm

P.S. these are only off the top of my head.

Some dudes called

The National closed the John Peel last night as well. Probably the best thing i've seen live

wasn't the first ten minutes...

...Jay-Z doing a tone-deaf singalong of Wonderwall before talking quickly over the top of 'Back in Black'?

PANDEMONIUM!

oh deary me

the old "get a life" line of defence

methinks somebody was a leetle bwit cwanky twodway
