Well that was a very enjoyable weekend.... highlights being Brakes, Piney Gir, 65 days of static and Motormark. Left at around 6 to avoid crowds and because I was generally exausted.
Truck was great great great. Except Martin Grech, whom my housemate wanted to see. He bored the shit out of me, but at least the acoustic tent was full so I could bask in the collective body heat like a festival-going penguin.
i didn't miss iForward Russia! *glee*
they were bloody loud for that time on a Sunday evening though.
i couldn't stand Martin Grech either. Was waiting for Chris T-T impatiently, yes, but he sounded in physical pain rather than emotional pain. Ah well...
A fine weekend indeed. The Young Knives were Saturday's highlight for me. Battle were good as was Patrick Wolf (though I heard he demanded his own dressing room and was an all-round pain in the arse)
Brakes were the best band I saw today by far although I actually quite enjoyed The Magic Numbers *goes red in the face*
And saddest sight of the weekend...Towers of London groupie-hunting outside the toilets drinking White Lightning
me and pirate come as a pair apparently. I can imagine it would be really strange having people coming up to you and saying 'her fullerov' and not knowing who they are
Agreed! BUT I was quite dissapointed when the woman started spooning big tablespoons of sugar into my 'healthy alternative'.
I give no stars to the woman in the Ice Cream Stand;
Me: Can I have an Ice Cream?
Her: A what?
Me: An Ice Cream
Her: Pardon?
Me: Ice! Cream!
Her: Scuse me?
Me Ice Cream!!!
Her: OK.
In my head tho I shouted "What the fuck do you think I want? I'm in the god-damned Ice Cream tent! The only other thing you sell is sherbert, even if you can't understand me you can hear that I'm saying 2 words and it ends in an 'eem' sound! Sherbert is not 2 words, and doesn't end in an 'eem'. Now give me an ice cream you cunt!"
yeah, you should have brought wishpig along with you and pointed at her t-shirt.
Poor girl, she missed the Trailer Trash Orchestra do a hillbilly version of 'Now I Wanna Be Sedated'.
Oh yeah, that reminds me, did anyone see the four-year-old Ramones fan?

I met Pretty_Vacant and Wishpig and they were lovely. I met Quietcrown as well, but I didn't realise until a bit after as my hearing had been knackered up by Forward Russia minutes beforehand. He was nice.
I saw Monpot and Thommo on several occasions but didn't pluck up the courage to say anything. Monpot gave me a bored look as we were watching some lass called Juliet. Who was a bit rubbish really.
I saw Brainlove as well, but I didn't want to cramp his style.
The dancing in the Acoustic Tent on Saturday night/Sunday morning was a wonder to behold. And Wishpig was singing along to a Kaiser Chiefs song. Ha!
I'm terribly offended! You spoke to Wishpig and them, why not me? What did I do? I would have offered you a beer!
PV told me you were about, and I said that I didn't know what you looked like, she gave the best description;
"He has longish hair, and a Truck t-shirt" -easy to spot then!
I was very bored by Juliette. You know when a saucy looking girl singing about her proactive sex life bores you, that it must indeed be ummmm boring. Well, more over-done than boring. Well done! You like sex, and you have a drum machine! Or a drummer behind a big perspex screen as the case may be.
That sounds a bit like me, although I had many costume changes and was wearing an MC LARS t-shirt when I saw you earlier. She might have forgotten to mention 'minging', but she probably would have withheld that, being nice 'n all.
Yeah, I came in just before you and left soon after you did. There wasn't much happening at that point though so I was clutching at straws...
silly utm. i don't bite....(hard).
we could have talked about Fonda, or LotF, or Didcot Rotary Club...
i decided to cramp Brainlove's style as much as i could and it felt strangely liberating...hehe...
were you in the Acoustic Tent when they played Guns and Roses? *shudders*
yeah there seemed to be a pattern when i was there.
Reggae platter, BlocKaiserKillers tune, another reggae platter with somebody trying to put a youkay garridge a-capella over the top, hair metal, reggae platter.....and so the cycle continues.
And was it just my warped imagination or was Boris Becker there?
he-he... i was wondering how early in the eve it would be before someone would post a pre-truck thread;)
what i enjoyed about truck?
most likely the fact that i stumbled upon bands/musicians that i'd heard of but hadn't heard (if that makes sense)... some of the acts i enjoyed:
65 days of static
the drug squad (it was the kid in the orange wet weather gear skanking along that put a smile to my dial)
c-jags
stuffy and the fuses
the walk off (with evil looking bear harassing the crowd!)
chris t-t
forward russia (during their set, some little girl decided she really liked my blue jumper and attempted to steal it, whilst i was standing right next to her!)
thats all i can remember right now... but overall an enjoyable weekend. oh, and if you want to get into the backstage area... all you need to do is get white toilet paper twist it tightly and secure it around your wrist - (the security staff didn't really check - and this was done at night;) but to be honest not much was going on backstage anyways...
I thought the Schla La Las were shit as well. Pretty_ Vacant tried to stick up for them for some reason. Meh, I think I lasted longer watching Towers of London than I did them.
He had a really bad headache, some nice lady in the crowd gave him some juice. I think someone offered him some kind of medication but he turned it down.
I agree Chris T-T was good, a few more funny ones would have been nice though. I had my fingers crossed for "i dream of injured popstars" and "eminem is gay" but sadly heard neither. Martin Gretch was on before him and was incredible, despite forgetting how most of his songs went. Can't see what the big fuss is about MC lars i must say.
I liked the weird stuff with the violin, possibly because of my college indoctrination into violin noises, but the rest of his set was a bit meh for me.
i think he's taking subject matter more seriously this year whilst promoting 'Red Songs'. And then returning to the rock band (who happen to also be most of Stuffy and the Fuses) next year, in the third of the London trilogies.
I was very jealous of the backstage passes - the purple ones were a bit crap not having Truck written on them! I can't believe you were all there watching Chris TT and I didn't speak to any of you! *cries at lameness*
the reason for the puurple crap ones was that the multi coloured rainbow ones where deemed to easy to get off and give to someone else....late on friday night
the new ones only arrived at 4am on saturday morning, so there was no time to make them nice and pretty
Not long back, as I stayed on Sunday night too...so much rain!
I met none of you, apart from John Brainlove and guntrip-who I knew already.
My highlights were-
65 Days of Static (predictable that!)
Martin Grech ( I know he forgot how some of his songs ended, but what he did play included some of my favourites and two completely new songs to me.)
Brakes
Scaramanga Six
The Edible 5ft Smiths
Chris TT
Zea
the Young Knives
Nervous test pilot
Luke Smith
and possibly Fell City Girl-I only got to hear one song, but that I liked.

That drummer-girl is bloody good!
Chris TT was enjoyable, poor fella did seem to be suffereing tho.

i'm more excited about Chris T-T's new album too....
