Kevin Barnes-fronted oddball popsters of Montreal's follow-up to their acclaimed Hissing Fauna... LP of 2007 (review) will be released on October 7 stateside.
Skeletal Lamping is the band's second long-player for Polyvinyl; its UK date, we don't have. See them play tracks from it at a pair of DiS-sponsored festivals this summer:

if it's got anything as retarded as
"The Past is a Grotesque Animal" on it, i'm going to cry
*cue fanboy OMG SIR MADE OF EPIC WIN IMHO defenses of said bilgefest*
I really like that song
Sorry
i'm just sorry but that song is one of the best things they have ever done. The fact hissing fauna is a concept album, this song is the most essential on it as it links two major parts of the story together... i.e. the nervous break down and his eventual personality change from hopeful shy kid to narcasistic self doubter.
I love
The Past Is A Grotesque Animal, I'd go as far as to say it's probably my favourite song on the album...
What's the issue with it? I must admit I'm not as much of an Of Montreal fanboy as I probably should be..
Shut up with your silly comments
amazing, amazing song.
You asked for it
You got it.
The Past Is A Grotesque Animal is great. As is all of Hissing Fauna... (especially She's A Rejecter) - look forward to this album.
And I fucking hate the word fanboy
why no mention of the Koko show in Oct?
I hope Field day does well but Koko is bound to be miles better.
and yeah agreed, the past.. is prob the best track on HF..
zip it fanboy
its all about stanic panic and to a lesser extent sunlandic. but satanic panic is the of montreal album.
They're playing
Koko in October too
I'm so excited for this!
^ this
One of my favourite bands
...
'The Past Is A Grotesque Animal'is one of the best songs he's written without doubt, although at the moment i like 'We Were Born The Mutants Again With Leafling' best. Just an amzing album in general though.
Can't wait for Skelatal Lamping.
it's actually their fourth/fifth
album for Polyvinyl...
HOORAY!
literally cannot wait to hear this! without doubt one of my favourite bands of my lifetime.
ill be very happy to hear this
but i hope he gets back to the happy days, not moping about divorce and stuff
