How the hell are people getting back? Seetickets seem to have got rid of the option of their coach thing from their website. I will phone them and check but just wondering if anyone had a lift going spare or was thinking of getting a taxi-share or something? Rubbish

  • coach

load of us going from brighton if you're nearby. double decker, think there maybe a few spaces left.... £20 return. :)

    • thanks

I'm in London though. I need to be back for the dentists early in the morning otherwise I would look to try and stay somewhere or just wander the fields til dawn. I really don't want to get the last train and have to miss loads of his set :(

      • hmmmm shakey

        vs the dentist....

        • yeah I know

but it's a specialist and took ages to get an appointment. Apparently the coach tickets are no longer available anyway so Im screwed either way. Fucking shit festival :(

        • I'm in a similar situation doctor

I need to get back to London aswell, but i aint missing his set

Let this be a taxi passenger recruitment thread

          • that would be excellent

I imagine a taxi all the way to London would be hideously expensive even between 4/5 (though still worth making enquiries) but we could get a taxi onto a non-shit train route or to outer london or something.

            • Count me in!

In fact, there's 5 of us in total - anyone got any idea how much a taxi back to London will cost?

Otherwise, can we camp there on Sunday night?

              • I'm sure we can't no

I have no idea about taxis or who to phone. My geography of Kent is rubbish so if anyone knows the nearest town I can phone a firm there?

                  • Whoa

                    Yalding, nearest big town Tonbridge.

Just to give you an idea, a black taxi from London to Dartford which is about half the distance cost me £60 about four years ago.

Maidstone looks like the nearest big town or Tonbridge.

Someone was advertising a car share on here a few days ago. That may be your best bet. It looks really really isolated.

                    • .

                      • thanks Mirri!

given that the seetickets coach was 17.50 per person then even if a taxi is 100quid it won't be any more than that but I'll try and find out.

                        • Trouble is love

you've got no idea how reliable a local firm is going to be.

I'd suggest calling a huge national company and getting a quote for a cash journey for a people carrier to split the costs between six of you. Try Addisson Lee: 0207 380 6000. Even if they cost a bit more, they will actually turn up.

I'd be buggered if I'd risk getting stranded in such a tiny place and having to find a taxi down country lanes at midnight on a school night.

                          • there's going to be

a taxi ring there apparently, though i doubt it'll be enough to take the amount of people that will need them

                            • Yes...

I can't imagine local drivers from there will really be arsed to take people all the way to London at midnight on a Sunday anyway, even if it makes them a killing.

                              I dunno, just a feeling.

                            • hmm

maybe this would be the safer option.

                        • Sorry to say this...

but maybe you should have thought of this a while ago... I got an email through saying about the last train being late so we all got coach tickets.
Maybe I am a bit too organised for my own good!!

                          • yeah I just didn't expect

fucking seetickets to take them off sale a few days before the event. I'm not that organised I'm happy to accept. I think the festival should have been better organised though, as should I.

                            • i got about 7

emails about this warning me about no trains etc and I only live 10 minutes away !

How much more fucking warning do you need ?

I'm guessing the coach companies need an idea of demand so they know how many coaches to lay on rather than just providing an infinite amount of coaches for the badly organised? Less time on DIS, more time working out how to get to and from shit.

Anyway, you're all welcome back to mine for a game of Rock Band if you can't get home. No one's allowed to sit in my chair though !

  • OK I am getting a quote

    from a firm in Maidstone.
They can do a people carrier for 5 so me and 4 others. If it is up to 100 quid (so 20 quid a head, the coach was 17.50 each) then I will probably go ahead and book.
I'm also going to have to pay ahead. Therefore, if you want to get in on this then can you let me know ASAP on this or by PM. Obviously I need people who won't back out and are reliable and stuff because paying upfront is a bit annoying.

  • Addison Lee

quoted 89 quid to Waterloo for 4 people so that's not too bad. I was pleasantly surprised by ticket prices but I guess this transport is going to make up for it.
