Friends' bands that you genuinely really like...

You know what it's like when your friends are in a band that you think is pretty shit but you still have to say they're good 'cos they're friends and that...what about friends' bands that you actually really enjoy listening to?

friends of mine have a cover band called "Zen'

they have a woman vocalist with a soprano voice which allows them to go after 80's bands catalogues in a truly impressive way.

After watching them the other night I was tempted to go out and but some Jouney the next day.

    difficult as I was a "fan" of their music first then became friends through persistence or constant annoyance
    
    Sailplanes (though jp in my band is more friends with them, I'm still a bit in awe really, brilliant band though)
    Selena Harrington (canadian songwriter, had some success but quit just as she got really good, not quite forgiven her!)
    Plus (great Fall type band who just don't give a fuck about being anything but original, so inspiring)
    
    there's more but the bands in question have broken up :(

I have this problem

I have a mate in My Sad Captains (hence why we can put them on tonight (SHAMELESS PLUG http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3567307) and I reallylike their stuff, despite it not being my normal kinda thing, and then I've known most of Vessels for a while, and I think they've just got better and better since they got rid of their singer and changed from A Day Later (or whatever they were called). I've been listening to their new album quite a lot.

CATNAP

This thread has spurred me on to dig out some records by my mates from uni Catnap - they were the best band at our uni by far, really clever mix of Sonic Youth / The Fall / Pavement and other cool influences, played some gigs around Brighton for a couple of years, then moved to London and haven't played for about a year. Their drummer has now moved to America. Bit of a shame.

Friends' bands from school

My band was in my year (duh)
