hiya

i am interested in this band, but never heard them..what are they like?

F**KING GOOD!

Go see them! I'm def going to try and come to this...will bring the snapping box (translation: camera)

ok

maybe i trust your instincts..free is a good price!

cool beans

hope they're better than they were at Cargo

Where did you

see this by the way?

Hmmm, I might go to this

as I can walk from Liverpool street, and thus it will only cost 6 quid to get there and back

hmmm, on the gallery website

It says 'private party'. Will us proles be able to get in?

I was

thinking that too.
There could be a guestlist system?

Nog gallery is tiny

I went to a gig there (Spectre Folk, so MM related) a few weeks ago, even with 20 people in there its pretty full. This could be daft. Myspace said it was free, but there was something announced on here this morning that said it was £3.

.

i can tell you that calling it a private party is just covering the tracks for legal stuff.

i think there might be a forced donation of £3 coming into play.

but it is happening, and people are allowed to come.

yes, it will probably be busy. it will also be worth getting sweaty for, i would have thought. i mean, markers at cargo vs markers at nog; it's simple to predict which environment they're more likely to slay in...

oh

wow.
i missed them last time around as well..

craps

i'm going to miss this. have fun everybody! someone take photos or something.

Are the Markers...

On at 8pm, or does assorted fun begin at 8?

there are two other

bands playing so I guess they'll probably play after 10 or so.

THURSDAY

GIG IS SOLD OUT -

RUUUUBBBBISH

I hate being at work when things happen.

bollocks

wouldve been good this

That

was. really. quite. boring.

?

At least it was free I guess and there was no sign of any list, so anyone could have just turned up. Soz.

.

actually there was a list and your name was on it and your name got crossed off when you came through the door. true story.

i thought elisa's guitar sounded seriously incredible for the extended first jam but when she messed with the settings on the weird digital effects amp, things went pretty awry. but there were some amazing moments and also a lot of frustration as things obviously weren't coming together in the way MM wanted.

but that's pretty much been my experience at every markers gig? and kind of why i like em so much.

They checked names against the list earlier on

but yes, Magik Markers were far from great, and the singer/guitarist did a bizarre, toe-curling rant about myspace and girls in big sunglasses at the end whilst people were just staring at the band in silent embarrassment.

Family Battle Snake were much better and interesting than MM though, and Male Bonding did a punked-up Blur cover, so not a wasted evening in the end.

I couldn't hear her very well at all

The first couple of times I saw them (when they were still a three-piece) they were electrifyingly brilliant but seemed to have lost their way a lot.

Family Battle Snake were tremendous.

I thought MM were great

they're not exactly meant to be the most slick band you'll ever hear, I thought that at points they were incredible. It was great to get to see them at such close quarters. I just ignored the rant.

Family Battle Snake was incredible, definitely my highlight of the evening. Really, really fantastic, can't wait to see him play again. That Blur cover by the first band was funny too!
