I LOVE MAKE-UP.
I think my obsession with it is a bit unhealthy though.. It takes me about half an hour to put on every morning and I have literally not left my house without it since I was thirteen.
I use concealer, foundation, pressed powder, blusher, lipstick, liquid eyeliner and mascara. I also draw on my eyebrows.
I like make-up, but it'd be nice to have the confidence to go out without it occasionally. For example, to be able to take my dog out or something without spending forever getting ready first would be a lot easier.
Do you wear make-up? How much? Can you go out without it?
i don't wear a great deal
and i go out without it all the time. i always put it on before i go to work though, but it only takes me five minutes. i don't like to wear a great deal because it makes you look completely different, plus it's bad for your skin. plus it looks bad.
i don't wear any,
apart from sometimes eyeliner, and powder if my face is shiny.
Can I ask a question?
Bear in mind I quite like you and it's not meant to be (that) personal in any way.
But.
What in God's name possesses you to draw on your own eyebrows?
In additon to this ^
do you not worry about rain, and general face rubbing? What if they come off?
I'm just imagining doing
that forehead/palm of hand slap.
'Shit! My eyebrows are on my hands! It's all gone wrong!'
heh

:'''')
oh god, i snorted
it was big in the 30s
to shave your eyebrows off and draw them on
so was anti semitism
^ need moar credit
I don't know to be honest..
I shaved them off a couple of years ago and just got into the habit of drawing them in again.
Probably because I dye my hair a lot, I can draw my eyebrows in to match and I just think it looks neater.
Oh and my make-up doesn't seem to run in the rain.
My eyebrows are waterproof.
My eyeliner/mascara isn't though, so if I cry, I'm fucked.
I wear make up about twice a month
and then it's only ever mascara, and maybe some kind of foundation stuff. I always end up smushing it off, rubbing it all down my face. Plus, when you never wear make up, any time you make a teeny bit of effort, some mascara or something, people notice, hence, twice the compliments, half the effort!
this is totally true!
but annoyingly, whenever i wear make-up now my boss/colleagues ask if i'm seeing "someone special" that evening.
i can definitely go without it :p
I cannot, however, go without hair wax / texturising gum / matt clay (delete as applicable). I guess that's like make up for boys
i always wear make up
but not that much, i don't think.
it takes me about 10mins in the morning.
I never wear make up
ever
should i?
IF YOU WANT A BOYFRIEND YOU SHOULD
http://www.uamodels.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/orange3_fn.jpg
Wow.
She probably looks pretty good without it all...!
im guessing
she has one of those blue wkd tongues.
Good. God.
i second the above sentiments
I do -
- concealer
- Foundation
- powder
- blusher
- eye shadow (neutral tone)
- Liquid eyeliner
- Mascara
- lipgloss on occasion
what are all these things??!
'Make up'.
You're welcome.
but seriously, what's the difference between powder and concealer and foundation?!?!
I'm so glad i'm a boy
i think
concealer conceals certain blemishes
while foundation is like a base on which you put other make up
and powder is like a finisher
all those long hours reading issues of Glamour i was never going to follow through on have not failed me after all
I'm glad you're a boy too x
Concealer conceals things, like spots and noses and faces. Foundation is the thing you put on first. Powder had a couple of good singles, but then lost it soon after.
Well:
concealer hides all the spots and blotchy areas because it's thicker in texture. You put the foundation on next applying it all over to create an even tone. The powder is to take off the shine so you don't look like plastic.
i really
wouldn't put foundation all over.......................
concealer is for major problem zones
foundation is to even your skin tone
powder is the finishing product to create a shine-free matte effect.
i don't use any of these that often but i read magazines sometimes.
i typed all this ages ago
but forgot to press enter :(
i used to never leave the house without make-up
now i quite often dont bother.
i wear a little at work, put on a bit of concealer, blusher and vaseline on the train and most days thats pretty much it, though i do think its fun to go the whole she-bang as well, so when im in the mood i make an effort.
from your pictures i think you look pretty cool and 'arty' in terms of your make-up, but i dont get the drawing on eye-brows thing, in 99% of cases i just think it looks bad.
you havent shaved/waxed off your eye-brows completely to replace them with paint have you?
Yeah, I shave 'em off..
why?!
whyohwhy?
i've always genuinely wondered this.
let them grow back
eyebrow HAIR >>>>>> painted on eyebrows
I'd have to go through the stubbly stage when growing them back.
I think it looks neater and I can change the colour of them when I dye my hair (which is fairly often) when they are shaved off.
I dunno, I just prefer it.
I really love make-up
but sometimes I worry that I wear too much.
Actually, I didn't worry before I saw your thread.
It takes me about fifteen minutes or something and I only wear it when I go out, never to work, or to go to the shops or anything.
I wish I could wear lipstick, but it makes me feel far too girly.
make up is quite good
i don't wear tonnes of it. if my skin looks ok i don't wear any. if i do, i wear mascara, foundation and sometimes eyeliner. i prefer not to wear foundation so that my freckles show. i mostly don't mind being seen without makeup and went makeupless to school. i do look a lot worse without it though...
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS:
HOW MUCH MAKE UP DO YOU OWN?
DO YOU HAVE BOXES IN CUPBOARDS THAT ARE NEVER OPENED? ANIMALS ARE DYING FOR THIS!
WHY DO YOU LEAVE MAKE UP EVERYWHERE?
IS MY BEDROOM YOU'RE DRESSING ROOM?
YOU ARE DRESSING ROOM.
I AM THE ROOM!
they don't test makeup on animals anymore smee
or do they? no, I'm pretty sure they don't.
^ see
silly girls
i check my products
me too
cancer can hit at any age
x
They do on some products.
But I buy most of my make-up form avon, who aparently don't test their stuff on animals.
1. a mascara, an liquid eyeliner, a foundation tub and a witch hazel concealer stick
2. no
3. i don't
4. it's not
thanks for clearing those up
riiiiiiight
four or five mascaras, couple black, couple brown
two or three eyeliners
six? eight lip glosses
a pencil sharpener
one face powder
one face powder that i use as blusher
three or four eye powder compacts that I never ever use and will throw out
plus miscelleanous odds and bobs, maybe a dozen items.
No I do not have boxes in cupboards that are never opened.
My sister does though. I got a nice little package a few months ago that was probs worth £200. yay.
I do not leave makeup everywhere. I am much tidier than you so shut it.
You seem to be confusing your gf's dressing room with your bedroom. If in doubt use the couch.
use the couch for what?
As make up.
Setteeface!
sounds like a turtles baddy
:D
I have so so much make-up.
Having sold avon in the past, and my sister doing it now, I get to sample things before they come out and am encouraged to buy lots and lots of he stuff. I have a make-up bag with everything I use regularly, ie the things I said in my original post. But I also have a drawer of stuff; eyeshadows, eye liners and lipsticks of every colour and spares of everything just incase I run out.
It's all neatly contained within said drawer and not all over your room though.
Yes.
Mascara, usually eyeliner, face powder and a pinker face powder that I use as a blusher. And lip gloss, shiny light colours. I really try not to overdo too much it because it's pretty unnatractive seeing "older" women done up like a dog's dinner, plus having all that stuff on your skin for 14 hours a day for six or seven days a week really can't be doing much good for it at all. One of the reasons I don't use foundation at all any more, too.
That said, I've recently taken to a sparkly green eyeliner... umm, it just seems to suit me and my sister gave it to me in a bundle of freebies.
In terms of basic cover: never leave the house bare-faced, ever. But if just going to the shop or the market or whatever, will do the minimum possible and another sort of pink lip gloss doubles up and gets smudjed quickly over eyelids and cheekbones.
I need to find a new mascara that doesn't make me look like a blow-up doll and also doesn't clump, actually. Not happy with any of them at the mo.
Have you tried
Max Factor Masterpiece? It's reallyreallyreally good. I love makeup.
YSL do the best mascara ever..
check out their number one best seller one - it's about £22 a tube but lasts for 6mths and really really works...
mac pro lash
and not too expensive.
it's AMAZING and really subtle.
:)
i don't wear much
but i hate going out without any make-up on at all, mainly because my skin is really, really repulsive without concealer. i only really use concealer, mascara and blusher.
It takes my girlfriend as long as you to put her make-up on
and she only wears mascara, foundation and a bit of red stuff on her cheeks.
She's fucking rubbish.
You should put the red stuff on her cheeks for her.
BIT OF A SLAP, LOVE. HAVE THAT.
^ laying the foundation(s) of a good relationship there
re. the last statement
dont be so hard on yourself
:D
'a bit of red stuff on her cheeks'
hehe
You mean blusher
It's a good thing
that I don't know the name of it, right?
i love it
hides the bits i don't like [not all of us are blessed with totally blemish-less skin], plays up the bits i do like [if people look over-made-up/drag queeny with make up on then frankly they're doing it very very wrong, a little goes a long way, it's not meant to make you look like a different person for goodness sake] and it's fun.
the problem is i never throw it away so i end up with boxes full of scraps of grey or green eyeshadow that i 'might wear again one of these days....'
thats last bit is me so much
1. primer which i wear without anything else
2. tinted stuff that's like a super-thin version of foundation, because the woman in the shop wouldn't sell foundation to me. i don't know why. she said i didn't need it, but i'm pretty sure i do
3. mascara but i forget to put it on so pointless
3. lip balm (is that make-up) otherwise my lips are covered in scars and flaking skin (sexy)
4. eyeshadow, but not very often. i really like it.
5. eye glitter. should really stop wearing it.
oh yeah 6. blusher
because i really do need this, but also, forget to put it on.
so i own five items of make-up.
What's primer?
you whack it on before
a gloss coat.
Does women wearing make-up make them more shallow than men?
not really
i think it's just a lot of women think they look unattractive without make-up, and also most women think being attractive is a requisite female quality, when it's not.
i think most people look far sexier without make-up, but i guess it signals that you're prepared to make an effort for someone. it doesn't seem to be about the actual look so much, as what it signifies
women wear make-up because men are more shallow than women
and every woman's main aim in life is to snare her dream man. EVERY WOMAN. especially me. i love men.
and men love you
;
)
it basically makes your pores look smaller and generally just makes one's complexion look even
it's basically a good way of cutting out any tinted stuff/foundation effort.
It naturally looks like i have lipstick/lip gloos
and mascarae on anyways, so NO i dont need it, though Mascare does REALLY suit the shape of my pretty eyes.
cherry lipped ducky!
didn't someone at Zonino say "Matt, you look like you've got more lip gloss on than Mirri" or something like that? :)
Yeap
they said that after you applied it, I still have no idea if this is a good or bad thing
I've never been big on it
and am quite happy without.
These days however I do tend to wear a smidge of foundation and some mascara most days. Always vaseline for my lips.
i have to say i do love it
i have a huge bag of it, i wear concealer
powder
mascara
a little bit of blush and i like my eyeliner for the day. When i go out i wear a good bit of eyeshadow, the more dramatic my eyes the better.
fascinating stuff
i can't believe i read through this thread. although i wish i was a girl, not for the make-up but for all the cool clothes you get to wear.
The majority of days I wear none at all
And I mean none, not even a tiny bit of mascara. There are so many things I'd rather do.
When I go on a night out, I do my eyes, but no foundation or lipstick or anything. And I've been doing my eyes the same way since i was 13...
Looking at your profile picture..
You really don't need face stuff anyway.
I'm jealous of girls like you.
Your makeup looks great
I wear quite a bit of makeup, I rarely venture outside without it. I love having big eyelashes.
