That said, ´Here Should Be My Home´ is pretty awesome. ¨Jump on the tube//Just to see you//My hearts in a tunnel baby, what can I do?¨- basically a perfect pop line
i quite liked some of the songs from their eps, like 'everybodys down' and the like, but really struggle to like anything on Nouns. I guess 'eraser' is ok. It all seems half-baked, and a bit irritating to me.
but i just couldn't listen to it often. I remember there being only one song on Nouns that made me think "yeah, this is alright". Same for Times New Viking. The whole scene stinks of indier-than-thou mentality.
was pretty down to earth I have talked to The Mae-Shi a few times and they were nothing but the most friendly band I have encountered ever. HEALTH just hung out at their gig talking to people and selling merch as did No Age. They all seem like proper nice peeps that like to make some noise and have fun.
I hadn't listend to it in weeks so when I saw this thread I deemed a reality check was in order and yup - Nouns is superb, start to finish, no weakness anywhere- one of 2008's Greats!
bloody ace. HEALTH were amazing when I saw them and I've heard similary excellent things about The Mae Shi, looking forward to seeing them at Field Day
i love the way it's exciting and new-sounding and the whole vibe is pretty cool. probs one of my favourite records this year, which has been a pretty average one thus far tbh.
agree with the comments up ^ there re: times new viking et al. the whole fake lo-fi thing is really disgusting.
nah It's pretty good
not "BEST THING EVER" though
Agreed
Songs like Eraser are amazing but then they have shit like Keechie on the album to ruin it.
Its pretty good
and the vinyl I have it on is really nice... not one of my favourites of the year really but still, a pretty good album nonetheless.
Yeah
I like Weirdo Rippers loads more. Something about Nouns really grates on me. Very tiring.
Teen Creeps
Is pretty ace
^ indeed
Good album. Not shit. Not OH MY GOD MY EARS! Good album.
I love it
well nice record they haven'y done a duff tune yet them No Age fella's.
the packaging is amazing
the record not so much
i
couldn't get into it, will try though because they're cool and people will like me more ;-)
Hahaha
Yeah, I think that pretty much sums it up, huh?
That said, ´Here Should Be My Home´ is pretty awesome. ¨Jump on the tube//Just to see you//My hearts in a tunnel baby, what can I do?¨- basically a perfect pop line
The packaging for the LP is just a normal cardboard slip
What's the CD like?
it's got a matte cardboard (digipack style) outer sleeve
and the inside has this 30-odd page booklet of photos and stuff. it's spectacular.
60 odd page photo booklet
all the lyrics and its just damn sexy.
Pretty annoying that you don't get that with the LP
OH WELL
Finally
I really don't get the hype.
oh yeah...
fuck yeah
I... just... I don't get it
:(
i'm in agreement
i quite liked some of the songs from their eps, like 'everybodys down' and the like, but really struggle to like anything on Nouns. I guess 'eraser' is ok. It all seems half-baked, and a bit irritating to me.
this thread is so liberating.
yeah, some of it is ok
but i just couldn't listen to it often. I remember there being only one song on Nouns that made me think "yeah, this is alright". Same for Times New Viking. The whole scene stinks of indier-than-thou mentality.
I thought the smell scene
was pretty down to earth I have talked to The Mae-Shi a few times and they were nothing but the most friendly band I have encountered ever. HEALTH just hung out at their gig talking to people and selling merch as did No Age. They all seem like proper nice peeps that like to make some noise and have fun.
i get it more from the fans
than the bands. the mae shi are indeed lovely lovely people.
yeah true
they seem to have picked up alot of hipster trash along the way hehe
exactly!
It's just like "woah, yeah, look at me i listen to weird 'lo-fi' indie! alright! yeah!" Yawwwwwwwwwn.
i quite like Rip It Off
but the fake lo fi thing is really pointless. those crazy hipsters.
hhah
'those crazy hipsters'
I like that phrase :)
It's ok, I quite like it
but Weirdo Rippers is far better.
^^
love WR
It is what it iS:
Two guys making great music.
I hadn't listend to it in weeks so when I saw this thread I deemed a reality check was in order and yup - Nouns is superb, start to finish, no weakness anywhere- one of 2008's Greats!
all is not quiet on the western front.
Wives
are better.
^
im still not clicking with this album. i tried, but its pretty average.
they bored me live as well.
.
I still quite enjoy nouns though, and Rippers is good too.
also
listen to Nouns back to back with Rippers- fun, fun, fun.
It took me a few listens
to 'get' it but I quite like it now. They aren't anywhere near as good as the other bands in the 'scene' though.
Like who?
genuinely interested by the way, not trying to be a twat.
HEALTH and The Mae Shi
is who I mean. I think that Abe Vigoda are part of it as well but I haven't heard enough of their stuff to judge.
Oh
never really listened to either of those bands, should really start to.
they're both
bloody ace. HEALTH were amazing when I saw them and I've heard similary excellent things about The Mae Shi, looking forward to seeing them at Field Day
BARR and the Mae Shi are my favourites
I like these guys
but I cant understand the level of critical adoration at all. A few decent tracks no doubt - but neither of the long players are classic.
I saw BARR a couple
of years ago. I didn't like him at all.
i think he's incredible : [

Thats probably down to different peoples opinions.
Rather than:
Post one: This is amazing
Post two: I agree
Would be shit.

i don't understand No Age. Same with Health.
It's good. I like it.
I like Brain Burner and Ripped Knees and stuff like them more than some of the other songs, though.
I really like that record
Its better than Weirdo Rippers IMO.
Eraser/Miner/Teen Creeps are all fantastic songs.
i LIKE it..
i love the way it's exciting and new-sounding and the whole vibe is pretty cool. probs one of my favourite records this year, which has been a pretty average one thus far tbh.
