Hey,
We're about to begin booking our stage for In the City ( www.inthecity.co.uk ) the event founded by Anthony H Wilson of Factory Records. Just wondered if you all had some suggestions to throw into the mix. Ideally we're looking for tips for 2009 kinda bands. Will listen to as many as I can, JAG's are welcome.
Please try to give a brief description with links. And post them all here please, that way other people can say which they like too.
Cheers
Sean

FIRST SHOWCASES ANNOUNCED
We are delighted to announce a series of high profile record label and magazine live music showcases that will be taking place as part of this years event.
The showcases will take place alongside the legendary In The City Unsigned programme and will present both new and established artists across the city - giving Manchester a true city-based festival.
The names announced so far include:
Drowned in Sound
NME
The Warehouse Project
Heavenly Recordings
Channel M
Popjustice
Fierce Panda
Clash magazine
Twisted Nerve
Fear & Records
Rock Sound magazine
thrashhits.com
Piccadilly Records
REGISTRATION
Keynotes announced so far include Culture Secretary Andrew Burnham MP, legendary Rolling Stones manager and ITC guest host Andrew Loog Oldham, iconic photographer Kevin Cummins and the much celebrated film director Dick Carruthers. Many more speakers and bands will be announced over the coming weeks…
To register for ITC 2008 at the reduced rate of £395 please visit www.inthecity.co.uk. Full price registration will begin on 1st August 2008. All prices exclude VAT. [I believe there are much cheaper ways just to get into the gigs, rather than the conference bit, we'll probably sell tickets for the DiS gig]
DISPLAY STANDS AVAILABLE AT THE MIDLAND HOTEL
We are pleased to announce that for the first time in a number of years, In The City will have a limited number of exhibitors on the main concourse at the Midland Hotel. Stands will be on the ground floor of the hotel in the main lobby and primary bar area, offering fantastic profile throughout the entire convention.
If you would like more information on this or any marketing opportunities at this year’s conference please contact Paul King via kingy@inthecity.co.uk or by calling +44 (0) 161 452 2207.
DEMO SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN
ITC are pleased to announce that demo submissions are now open. Bands who wish to submit a demo for consideration can either send a demo (minimum of three tracks), biog and photo to the ITC office, or alternatively visit the ITC website – http://www.inthecity.co.uk - and use our new online submission system.

When they launch into their toppest tunes the vibes start at the feet and slowly creep up the body until you’re skanking like a goodun along with them. Go see ‘em skankers....they get some HEAT into their tunes!" (Mark Cunliffe, Dandelion Radio, July 2008)
