I thought my reading skills were dying on me. I actually copy + pasted it into notebook and put spaces between each of the letters and made it bigger, and in bold to check I was right.
Which, looking back seems a little over the top....
there's just quite a lot of horrible places in these counties (I'm sure there's some nice places too!).
I think my favourite is North Yorkshire because, as well as being my home county, it's probably got the least people compared to area and therefore the least annoying/gross places :P
You can get to the station in 10 minutes. Maybe less, I haven't walked that way for a while.
You're at the top of the hill. It's down towards the Tesco/college end. And if you walk the straight route in to town you go down a slight one. But nothing major - York doesn't really do hills. It's very, very flat. You won't need a bus to get into the centre. Just walk in a straight line (literally straight line, you don't need to turn anywhere at all) and you'll end up on the main shopping street. Or you can go via the station, and end up at the opposite end of the main town area. Probably equal enough distances. As for busses to elsewhere, you can get anywhere anywhere from town, and you can get a lot from right by The Mount.
home to wellingborough, kettering, corby and northampton - four of the most boring towns in the whole of the UK. Nothing there except A roads and people who have chosen to live there because it is equidistant from their respective sets of relatives.
England.
Uganda
Wales
^ this
over represented in the media.
Going from 45 to 89
Is a bit of a pain
Has no one else noticed it says county,
and not country? So yeah I'm gonna say Lincolnshire in that case.
oh shit yeah
Which country is Wrexham in?
That one.
Wales,
you typed country. Yes, I know I'm being pedantic.
Wrexham is technically a county itself
so you can really narrow it down. Good shout, too.
^flintshire aka clywd
i was born in wrexham.oh fuck!!!
*clwyd
I was pretty concerned then
I thought my reading skills were dying on me. I actually copy + pasted it into notebook and put spaces between each of the letters and made it bigger, and in bold to check I was right.
Which, looking back seems a little over the top....
The answer is still England.
I don't know any counties, as it is fucking useless knowledge.
Good morrow!
middlesex
Wayne
It was Essex
but is fast becoming Kent.
Berkshire
Because it's got MAIDENHEAD....
jeez, try going to bracknell sometime!
not
as bad as the sinbin that is Maidenhead
which was the location
where Mel B had a lesbian experience. It was in a pub called the Honeypot.
Again
Berkshire - because of Slough.
Every town
in Berkshire seemed to have a Honeypot at one stage. Reading did, Maidenhead's football team were sponsored by them...
I've never been to suffolf
but I think i could hate it more than essex, and maybe more than kent!
I gather you mean
suffolk? norfolk is a lot worse than suffolk.
Norfolk.
Or Essex.
i was born and bred there...
but i agree with you. fine when you're either really really young or really really old.
Norfolk,i mean
not Essex
South Yorkshire
Or Lincolnshire
Or Humberside
My knowledge of counties is quite limited...
OI!
Sorry
there's just quite a lot of horrible places in these counties (I'm sure there's some nice places too!).
I think my favourite is North Yorkshire because, as well as being my home county, it's probably got the least people compared to area and therefore the least annoying/gross places :P
theres horrible places EVERWHERE though
but yes all these places probably do have a higher percentage of horrible places.my favourite is also north yorkshire.its beautiful
Yorkshire
it's not that I've spent much time there but being from the other side of the Pennines, it's my birthright to dislike it.
Essex
Nothing can possibly be worse.
Oh COUNTY
Whichever one Newcastle is in
good shout.
West Yorkshire
East Yorkshire
South Yorkshire
unless your from lancashire
this yorkshire hate is unacceptable.
Note the missing Yorkshire
.....
north yorkshire!
would you really separate it up, aren't we just one big happy yorkshire family.
Whats actually in north, i get as far as Skipton and run back home to the west side.
North York Moors are great
And you get some beautiful beaches on the east coast of the county (Robin Hood's Bay et al).
It's a really great county and loads of really interesting history went down there too :)
No, it's four counties
Three of which are horrible.
One of which is the nicest place in the country.
What do you mean, what's in it?
Two national parks, some of the most beautiful countryside imaginable, perfect villages.....
north yorkshire has THE most beautiful countryside ever
To me, yes
But it's quite understated, so I can see why some wouldn't agree. I guess a lot of people like mountains and that kind of 'dramatic' scenery better.
And the coast
The coast is brilliant
its not really though is it
Yorkshire is a historic county, however its been cut up in recent times is besides the point.
Yes it is
They're very, very different.
West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire are largely towns and cities, and not a lot of pretty. East Yorkshire isn't particularly nice.
North Yorkshire is completely different, geographically, and in terms of people/life. Especially in the parks.
I'm moving to N. Yorks in a week
*excited*
Where abouts?
York
South side.
I also have an elderly relative in Pickering which is quaint, if a little grey due to the average age.
York has a south side?
Should I know which side I am? I have no idea what's in what direction.
You know the name of the area?
I know the road
Tadcaster Road, not far from the race course apparently.
That's pretty convenient
Very quick to walk into town from there, and better than being at the York College / Tesco end of TR, which I can imagine getting annoying quickly.
It's also close to the train station too?
My sister will be attending York college and much of our search was constrained to that area. Grrr.
If you're right at the Micklegate end
Then it's probably a 15ish minute walk to the station, but Tadcaster Road is very, very long.
Huzzah
I just double checked and we're actually living on The Mount, and not Tadcaster Road.
15 minutes sound alright. Any hills? Buses?
Ah, The Mount is right at Micklegate
You can get to the station in 10 minutes. Maybe less, I haven't walked that way for a while.
You're at the top of the hill. It's down towards the Tesco/college end. And if you walk the straight route in to town you go down a slight one. But nothing major - York doesn't really do hills. Although, you've just swapped College students
for two different sets of secondary school students right at your door.
Aye, my sister is going to Millthorpe so it's gravy
Thank you, you've been most informative.
East Yorkshire is nice
Hull?
Hull is the TITS mate.
i think you mean the east riding of yorkshire
^
It's still a county though, isn't it...?
yes, and it pisses all over North Yorkshire,
in a quite torrential manner
maybe Bedfordshire
Or, actually
Anywhere that isn't North Yorkshire or Cumbria.
Nahhhhh
East Sussex is where it's at
As is West Sussex
for that matter, good balance of country side, villages and activities
^this
went to uni in chichester, quality county. Moving back soon.
Essex
I have never had a good time there
West Midlands
Staffordshire
^staffordshire for sure
i was brought up in south cheshire and went there all the time - rubbish!
Staffordshire has some lovely parts
Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, and Bucks. Hate Bucks.
Also West Dunbartonshire
becuase it has Dumbarton.
And North Ayrshire
because it has Irvine.
Are these counties?
Northamptonshire
KENT
Hampshire
as it has both basingstoke AND farnborough
^
berkshire, as it has the word berk in it, which is a word its inhabitants use quite a lot.
oi!
BERKSHIRE 4 LYFE
Rutland
like 10 people live there
Quality not quantity
Rutland is very pretty
most counties have some nice parts, but I'm going to vote for South Yorkshire, because if it's got attractions, I've not seen them.
Essex.
why :(
If there was no essex you might live closer to her.
And me.
I've never found anything particular nice in Kent,
sorry.
Haha.
I meant Essex.
XENOPHOBES!111
Leicestershire
zzzzzzzzzzzzz
^sad, but true
:(
In it's defence
there's a place called the Vale of Belvoir and Belvoir Castle (both pronounced as beaver). Surely that's worth something?
Kalawao
Nobody lives there
northamptonshire
home to wellingborough, kettering, corby and northampton - four of the most boring towns in the whole of the UK. Nothing there except A roads and people who have chosen to live there because it is equidistant from their respective sets of relatives.
and in defence of norfolk
okay it's slow, rural and casually racist but there's lovely countryside, nice coastline, and norwich is alright.
.
Norfolk
Nottinghamshire
What's your beef with Notts?
no beef as such
been there a couple of times and didn't really like the place or the people.
That hurts, Jack.
That hurts!
I'm sure you're great
it's just everyone else I have a problem with.
WARWICKSHIRE
CAN KISS MY DAMN BOTTOM
switzerland
if i was the King of nato i'd totes invade them. how's your neutrality now, motherfuckers?
oh county
erm
no idea
Today, England...
...
Why do we have counties?
You can't really look past Yorks/Lanca, can you, they're the king of the counties. I do like Kent, though, so they'd be my top three.
oh, i thought you said favourite.
I'll go for Bucks, just cos it sounds like it might be a bit posh.
Surrey
full of wankers and devoid of soul
Home counties
Staffordshire- nothing but ugly dogs and stoke.
Surrey.
