Someone mentioned this

over the weekend, actually. It looks really good. I guess maybe they are trying to keep coverage to a minimum in order to keep it low key? Looks good, though.

played there last year, it's really fun

just like an overgrown house party, but pretty well organised. You should go.

tickets!

Hey I have a couple of tickets available for this lovely little festival. £75ono

Did Anyone Go?

I did it was AWESOME

isn't it just

a houseparty hosted by and attended mostly by posh twats? Yes.

yeah

pretty much

it was ok

i did enjoy it, but there was barely any atmosphere (although i was camped next to the most annoying loud people who seemed intent on moaning about everything at 4am in the morning) - still the weather didn't exactly help that, watching johnny flynn in cold, windy rain wasn't the most fun i've ever had.

still, enjoyed sets from Los Campesisons, The Mae Shi, SFA and They Came From The Stars I Saw Them muchly. Maccabees were very very boring though.

Not sure I'd go again unless it has an unbelievable line-up mind.

We went down on Friday and Sunday night.

There were lots of cute touches, but it seemed that there was far less than the 2500 capacity there.

The Super Furry Animals were worth the ticket price alone.

I went for a bit.

Too many poshos and too much shit reggae.

You're all fucking MISERABLE MUSICAL SNOBBY BASTARD HATERS

Someone goes to the effort to put on a fest for three days, makes no money as it goes to charity
He gets some awesome bands and loads of new bands without the backing of a major radio channel, music magazine or online music site.

Scores an awesome open air club area (Love Hotel) meaning you can party after the live music has stopped and to keep the party going on Sunday night gets some Silent Disco action going which is always fun.

I cannot belive all the negative. Compare it to Field Day 07 shambles?
Christ, did you not see the fucking toilets, they were awesome compared to any other fest i have ever been too.

If it was all up to fucking miserable bastards like you no one would fucking bother and you'd be stuck with big coroprate ass fucking whores of festivals and not special little boutique festivals which try and buck the trend of big money and big business.

here. here

.

don't care

the bloke who organises it spends his days organising the opening of branches of Tesco around the world. What a crock.

Crook you mean?

or crock of shit?

Hey, fuck you, we all have to earn a living and like getting paid good money. What the fuck do you do? Something humanitarian? Something that you love and get paid fuck all for which kills you inside but you tell everyone that you don't mind because otherwise you'll fall apart?

Who gives a shit who he works for. He organised a quality festival with a quality line up, i don't see you doing anything on that scale.

Plus, fuck being a Tesco hater, they've got a fucking awesome business and the only reason people are pissed is cos they are so fucking successful its fucking bullshit.
Don't see people moaning when you're using microsoft windows or vista to run your home or work PC ffs

I work

for Unicef actually. Ultimately, I see this kind of event as part of the problem and absolutely a waste of people's time, energy, money and electricity.

Then you sir, are a fucking idiot.

I know you're entitled to your opinion, but its wrong, oh so wrong.

I think the 1300 people who went will 100% disagree with your ridiculous, prejudiced opinion. If you work for a charity should you not commend a sponsor free, self paying festival that gives its profits to charity? Or would you rather have another Mean Fiddler or Corporate Branded festival you miserable bastard

They only sold 1,300 tickets

Spoke to man in the hat about it. Thats prob why the bar prices weren't what i'd call 'reasonable'

Missed atmosphere yes, it wasnt great but it was a very small festival what did anyone expect.

I met some lovely people and had a great time dancing without too many knobs or arseholes you find at british festivals.

The line up was great and it made a change to watch bands without being squashed or torn apart.

Yes Maccabees were boring, but I came from the Stars, A Human and a few other bands i'd never heard of were great and JoFo, Los Camp and SFA were awesome. For a weekend in a field, for £69, for the bands that played and the fun i had with my mates, and going for a swim every morning, and drinking good beer all weekend, it was cheaper than getting in a car and camping in devon or cornwall for a weekend.

I'm defo going next year. Its just a shame Mystery Jets pulled out.

Class?

I still struggle to understand the British obsession with class... 'Posh' is what exactly? Not pissing on someone's leg during a gig (yes, this has in fact happened to me), not throwing a lit cigarette into someone's shirt (ditto). Or perhaps it's reading newspapers (yes, those big ones, with equally big words) at a festival on a Sunday morning, being educated and not attempting to hide it by using made up words and discarding grammar for the sake of 'keeping it real'...

Hmm, over in Europe we just have PEOPLE. You know? Those things the world is full of.

Standon Calling 2008 was great, regardless of the type (or, since this is obviously so important to you, 'class') of people who went. And the fact that the organisers run it while actually LOSING money, well, you can hardly complain then now can you? They do it for the love of it, to (now here's a novel idea) to make others happy...

As for 'posh', 'chav' and whatever else you so enjoy using to categorise people, well, let it the fuck go. It's BORING.

and that's inverted snobbery!
