I find the idea of keeping animals alive to harvest their unfertilised embryos much more distasteful than the idea of killing full grown animals for their flesh.
My egg eating veggie friends don't understand where I'm coming from; does anyone here get it?
Also keeping animals, making them give birth then draining then them of their babyfeed. Pretty gross.
* pretty gross
QUESTION MARK
I don't understand your problem
with keeping chickens for eggs. Isn't "keeping alive" the same as "not killing " in this instance.
The milk industry is hard to defend. So I won't, I'll just put my hands over my ears and go "LA LA LA".
Or, drink soy milk.
I do this. I've almost managed to convince myself that the terrible, terrible taste is made up for by the warm smug glow. Almost.
I also thought that's more gross than
eating one that's actually been born
what?
it's an *unfertalized* egg.
yum
They're only animals
I suppose so
and the Bible does say that God gave us dominion over all the beasts to do with as we wished (beastforum?)
Apart from the fact that you're essentially eating a chicken's period
I don't think there's much wrong with it. Most kind farmers will want them to produce some chicks so that the egg production can continue - surely it'd be unfair to encourage the fertilization of every egg, the poor chickens wouldn't cope!
yeah
dairy/eggs gross me out way more than meat, both pretty ming though.
Doesn't this just kick off the
powderkeg that is veggie vs meatosaurus vs vegan vs 'fruitarian' (I still don't want to accept the latter is real).
Im a veggie now!
but not by choice, that means no one can touch me in the YOUR A PONSE or YOUR A MURDEROUS CUNT steaks, I win!
But not a vegan/fruitarian?
I hear the internal wrangling for the moral high ground can get vicious. I'd look out for a vegan hurling salad forks at you in righteous indignation.
