Is it just being a receptionist or lifting? That's all I can find. And I'm done with being a semi-receptionist (I felt gayer every day) and I'm shit at lifting things. I just want to be a man in an office, working hard for £7 an hour. Why is this so hard to organise? It seems like everyone does it, but I have no idea how they get there.
You felt a gayer every day?
LOL.
Retail
What I've worked in since I quit education. I'd love an office job too!
Admin jobs
aren't necessarily secretarial and a lot only ask for GCSEs and sometimes A Levels.
Also see customer service.
Just do some
background reading about the post you're applying for.
That's what my girlfriend did when she applied for the tax office and she doesn't have a degree.
i'm going to be a teacher in september
and i won't have a degree for another year.
welcome
to the wonderful world of administration. head straight for local government, collect a bigger paycheque.
do you think
I could feasibly move from retail into admin? I've been doing a backroom job for a year now and like the idea of only ever seeing a shop floor from a shoppers perspective in future.
i did it
you'd likely have to start with call centre / reception / temping stuff though. it got me where i am today!!!!!
temp
then find something good and go permanent? Then apply for internal vacancies? Then start feeling sick and a bit dizzy?
Most of them.
I'd guess that 99% of jobs in Britain don't involve needing a degree or having to do difficult vocational training.
music industry
it's who you know & experience that matters...
What about a job in a nice lovely call-centre?
That's what I did for a few years before Uni. Awful it was.
post room/facilties
you get to lift heavy stuff and fix things that make you look manly. even tho they are fucking easy to fix. and you look manly.
also works if you work in an office full of girls
Filing.
Have you considered filing. It sounds like you have what were looking for.
Only kidding! Don't get down. there's loads of jobs out there that dont require a degree or training. You just need to make the first tentative steps.
Sales
Often doesn't need anything other than the gift of the gab and a strong desire to earn shitloads(depending on what you're selling). If you can talk your way into the job you'd probably do well.
fluffer
I've got a relatively good job
considering that I scraped through my GCSE's and failed my A levels miserably. I started as a temp at the place I work now on the helpdesk, then slowly made my way up.
you can actually DO many jobs without
a degree or training as long as you are knowledgable.
What you meant to ask is "what jobs will people allow you to have?"
The ability to do a job has little bearing on whether you will be offered a job....of course in theory they are meant to match up.
Have you considered becoming a policeman? They get paid good dosh....or even better a binman, they geet paid excellant dosh and you dont have to risk getting attacked or abused
Nobody should ever, ever become a policeman purely due to the good salary
Being a police officer is much more than just a job, in my opinion. The good wages and attractive pension are part of the reason you get so many cunty policemen
A degree doesn't mean everything
I'm in a PA role now, and didn't finish my degree. I did have to start off with crap, boring admin stuff though.
yeah, same here
start at the bottom, then work your way up. now i get to boss around people twice my age. fun.
Babysitter or Bramblepicker
You stop moaning,
start at the bottom and work your way up or sideways into the job you want.
dont you still want to be a writer/
music critic, stanidng at the back on your own, smoking and looking smug?
:(
that dream died an ugly death on the 1st of july 2007
I've got a basic office/admin job
it pays pretty well but it leaves my legs wanting exercise, my mind numb and my eyes hurting from staring at computer screens all day.
Good job I'm leaving in less than two weeks and going on holiday to Amsterdam, goodbye mothafuckas! (directed at fellow workers who, probably won't be reading this)
