I've got a bit of money to spend on a CD order I'm making right now.

I want some jumping melodic jazz!

Nothing pre-1965 preferably, but nothing that sounds like it was recorded in Ancient Rome either!

Count Basie's pretty good! Anything else like that, the sort that makes people jive!

Thanks!

.

Oscar Peterson might fit the bill. I would recommend Eric Dolphy live at the 5 spot but it's entirely not what you asked for :p

Giant Steps

innit, unless you have it already. Which you should.

.

Quite a step from Count Basie, huh?

I FUCKING LOVE JAZZ

get some Charles Mingus up you!

Jazz freaks me out...

...in a good way tho, not in a mighty boosh way, thats a bad way....

Yep

The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is awesome

nothing pre-1965

makes this pretty tough i think. some of the best (imo) stuff was recorded pre-1965. i'm sure you know this but from 1965-70's jazz went through the big free/fusion period and there's a lot of stuff that doesn't "make people jive".
stick with basie if that's what you like. if you can get away with something pre-65 try ellington's newport '58
art blakey - moanin'
wynton kelly trio w/ wes montgomery - smokin at the half note
anything with cannonball adderly (live in san francisco is a good one) so is somethin' else

what instruments do you like?

im a fan of brother jack mcduff and jimmy smith and that kinda stuff....does georgie fame count as jazz?
