or just music popping up in some TV show unexpectedly.

I was surprised to see footage on MOTD2 of the end of season relegation battle being backed by Bellbottoms by Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, not to mention their use of Eye Know by De La Soul every episode

The Bill

used to have this thing of always using Iron Maiden tracks when they busted drug dens on the Jasmine Allen estate.

thats not starnge though

metallers love drugs

in a similar vein

what would the makers of hard hitting drugs/prostitution documentaries do without Portishead/Massive Attack to soundtrack moodily lit black and white scenes of utter misery?

Guided By Voices

- Hold On Hope, admittedly, but GBV nonetheless - on Open highlights.

Mentioned it at the time

Pavement being used on Top Gear. Not a 'well know' Pavement song but that one hidden near the end of S+E that goes "I've got one holy life to live" or something. I was shocked. Apparently they used something from Drum's Not Dead the previous week so perhaps not all that shocking.

i remember

coronation street playing Cradle Of Filth
