"will the night" by Low did this to me this morning - where there's that gorgeous long high note ("am i on the ... ther side") with alan and mimi both singing. just got me.

This morning
I was listening to The Kinks - Oklahoma USA and I nearly shed a tear; must have been in a shaky mood for some reason. It's a song that always tugs at the heartstrings though.
Good choice though (if you can say that). The high bit in Dragonfly is a choker "maaaaybe you're riiight".
oh yeah definitely
i think at least three of their songs made me emo when i saw them a few years ago.
i read in plan b (when they were talking about Low's new DVD) that alan is a recovering drug addict - is this true?
I think he smoked alot of marijuana
but you can kinda tell that anyway. He had a mental breakdown in 05 but he seems relatively normal now.
yeah he was on good form in april
much more relaxed than i've previously seen him.
I saw them in april too
where was it for you?
union chapel
it was amazing - they suit the venue so well with the acoustics and the quietness of it all. their new bassist freaked me out a bit but other than that it was just as I'd want it to be. i'd say they are pretty much my favourite band.
yeah
he looked like he belonged in gentle giant or fleetwood mac more than low. I saw them at Norwich art centre, which was cool because it was small. I think they're probably the best band I've seen live, amazing how they can hold an entire audience in silence with such subtle and quiet music. Mimi kept getting pissed off at the soundman for some reason though, quite funny.
Antony & The Johnsons - Spiralling
it wasn't the only cause of the waterworks, but it sure assisted in getting it out
Beirut - Nantes
I was driving home in the dark, exhausted and wallowing in a little self-pity (but hey, that's surely compulsory for midnight drives down windy country lanes), and it made me :'( enough that I had to pull over for a minute.
beirut too
i was in one of those moods and it was the lon gislad version of scenic world, it was an oh my god this is beautiful moment
Beirut 3
I always sigh l;oads when I hear Nantes
Cursive 'Stayin' Alive'
About a week ago- I remembered that this song would be played at my funeral, and got all worked up about my up and coming death :(
That's probably the one I'll say is my first too
lst = last
just realised it looks like 1st (first)
This Woman's Work
by Kate Bush gets me every time. I basically can't listen to it in any public place.
I used to love that song
but whenever I play it to people, it's become the "song off the nspcc advert" which hasn't spoilt it for me as such, but it makes it harder to explain how good it is.
:)
gooood choice.
Art Of Fighting-Two Rivers
"there arrrrre two riiivers in a bow, blows the coldest wiiiind, i have eeeee...vvvv....eeerrrr...felt"(WALL OF NOISE)
incredibly beautiful
I just downloaded this
purely because of the above post. WHAT a song.
yay :)
i like this
Julie Ruin - I Want To Know Wanna Love Is
Kathleen Hanna's finest, most harrowing song, I literally can't move when it's on. "How many girls stay awake all night, too scared to sleep and too scared to fight back? I know you know what i'm talking about: another woman killed and hardly a pout about it." And when she ends with "I don't how we get it but we'll get it someday" I always cry cos nothing's really changed.
I can't even type a simple song title :-(
Julie Ruin - I Wanna Know What Love Is
To The Sky - Maps (Sky 7" m83 split)
Currently going through absolute hell with University-related decisions on top of a messy break-up/get back together with boyfriend of 2 years.
Got off the phone, and this song came on random, and it was like opening a plug to a waterfall. About 3 hours worth it was.

This Year by Mountain Goats
I played video games in a drunken haze
I was seventeen years young.
Hurt my knuckles punching the machines
The taste of scotch rich on my tongue.
And then cathy showed up and we hung out.
Trading swigs from the bottle all bitter and clean
Locking eyes, holding hands,
Twin high maintenance machines.
amazing, but so sad.
There's a few that tend to set me off a bit...
Bizarrely, the one that really tweaks me is Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks, which immediately makes me think of walking around Waterloo Bridge at dusk...
yes
that's such a great song. I get really affected by return to waterloo aswell. Even though it's a bit cheesy just the whole sentiment of going back disillusioned is perfect.
'The Sound Of Silence'
Simon and Garfunkel
Dosed - RHCP
First good song I listened to! =]
The Pogues 'Broad Majestic Shannon'
Mercury Rev 'The Dark Is Rising'
lime tree by bright eyes
:( not :'( I dont do :'( to songs
No Lies Just Love
always makes me cry, maybe I'm a bit too emotional, but I always get really tearful when I hear it
Is that "first" or "last" ?
I'm not trying to be smart, genuinely not sure.
Here's both, anyway.
The first song to make me cry was the closing theme to "Andy Pandy".
The last song that made me cry was when Ladytron did "Playgirl" at the Astoria the other week. I was strangely overcome.
Sufjan Stevens'
'A Good Man Is Hard To Find'.
ah sufjan
not sure i've cried actual tears to a song, but the 'oh my god' in John Wayne Gacy, Jr. had me close, especially live.
yes to what you have just said
but also the last lines of Sister:
I have a red kite
would you ride in it
i'll show you the sky....
blub
i had a tear in my eye during casimir pulaski day
vito's ordination song sometimes gets me too - possibly one of the greatest God-inspired songs I've ever heard.
it was supposed to be last
i missed the a out by accident so it read "lst" which looks like 1st/first
I had a drunk and emotional day
at Lounge on the Farm this year and two songs made me :'(
New York Dolls- Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory
and
Johnny Flynn- Brown Trout Blues
When i was young
Linkin Park - My December *cocks gun*
City Middle...
...just got me at work
"Matthew! Matthew! Love you."
Was our call to him last week.
Keith Jarrett
Venice Concert, Part I always gets me going a bit.
oh i've not heard that
Part 1 of the Koln concert gets me going.
The theme to the backstory in Castlevania 2 on Gameboy
True.
I cry, when angels deserve to die.
