Ok, I'm almost done with this thing now. Couldn't pin this down to a straight Top 5 vocalists so had to split it between ladies and gentlemen.

<strong><em>Top 5 Male Vocalists</em></strong>
1. <strong>Gerry Rosalie</strong> (The Sonics)
2. <strong>Black Francis</strong> (Pixies)
3. <strong>Otis Redding</strong>
4. <strong>Ian Gillan</strong> (Deep Purple)
5. <strong>Jeff Buckley</strong>

<strong><em>Top 5 Female Vocalists</em></strong>
1. <strong>Cat Power</strong>
2. <strong>Sandy Denny</strong> (Fairport Convention)
3. <strong>Ronnie Spector</strong> (The Ronettes)
4. <strong>Nina Simone</strong>
5. <strong>Lucinda Williams</strong>

Check out the blog for justifications and further guff.

So, much happier with this than I was with my Top 5 Guitarists. I'll get this supergroup thing wrapped up next week with additional musicians and a final line-up.

why are there separations for male and female vocalists

but not male and female guitarists, etc.?

what?

lulz

Fair call

I just found it hard not to include more singers for some reason. The male voice and the female voice is very different whereas a good guitarist is a good guitarist.

Steve Perry
Brad Delp
Bon Scott
David Sylvian
ELVIS FUCKING PRESLEY

Female:
Aretha Franklin
Kate Bush
Ella James
Julie Covington
Karen Carpenter

what?

Yes Yes Yes

Karen Carpenter! F**k how could I leave her out. Bon Scott, Elvis, Aretha & Kate all close too.

because

men's voices and women's voices sound different as opposed to men's guitars and women's guitars which are both just guitars. I prefer female voices more than male voices. definitely.
