everyone has heard it thousands of times yes, but i heard it earlier for the first time in ages and goosebumps again. best 'indie' track ever written, at least one that has gotten mainstream recognition (teenage kicks etc)

:(
i like it!
great track!!!
ah
I remember this, you're right.
oh yeah baby!
yeah, i love it... still genius.
lets cover it.
the video
was really moving.
You see the young person, and then it clips to them being old - simple enough idea. But to see people go from being all nice and healthy looking, to being old, or in one case - in a wheelchair, then there is something pretty powerful about that.

:'(
I so hate that song...
Nahhhhhhh
Really? You're having a laugh chief, surely?
The first mixtape
My brother made for me had this on twice, very happy childhood memories
Listening now
Happiness. What a great song.
its
rubbish.
Ace
a laugh ?
me ?
Never !
it's great
for years i thought it was REM. turns out it wasnt, obvs. did they have any other songs?
bullshit
lyle...absolute bullshit
YES!
my actual favourite song by them is probably "Over There"; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fluvL_5P1XM&feature=related
they remind me of the walkmen of the reason.
that's my middlename...
BRILLIANT
One of those great lost 90's singles that got released twice and got to the roughly the same number both times. See also: ETA: Casual Sub, Apollo 440: Krupa, although they obviously sound nothing like this stroke of total brilliance.
never heard any of them
i dont think anything touches this though. perhaps "Waiting For The Winter"?
74-75
Awful mid 90s AOR. How anyone could describe it as "indie" is beyond me!
^^ do you have no soul?
hmm?
uhm
although i like the song, it is difficult not to say it's pretty much MOR / AM rock. i can imagine it being sung by Keane and everyone here hating it.
Not dark enough, I'm guessing....?
nah
just too shit...
I have this on CD single
Schooldays, yo.
It still reminds me of an exact moment on the way to a specific exam.
great song, fuck da haterz.
For some reason
I always confuse 74' 75' with this-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgJffiGHz7M&feature=related
'74 '75 even
.
I was 12 / 13 in '74 / '75
and it was a completely rubbish time for music. So that record could be said to sum up the era nicely.
good song
but something that has struck me as weird is how many young people, even teenagers, including myself were into this song at the time.
It's proper dad rock.
^this
it's a terrible song!
yeah its dad rock but good dad rock
- its a great song -some of their others were even better but probably didn't tug at the heartstrings in such a blatant manner. their first album 'darker days' is an amazing amalgamation of the smiths and rem - later on they did get a bit more middle of the road but generally had a few very good songs on each album
yeah i've got darker days
it's good but the singer has a really dreadful british accent. there is a song on it called '1939' which is great.
