Have worked my way through the albums today for the first time in a while - SUCH a good band, any love here? Real Life is one of my favourite albums ever - the live album is storming too. Is any of Devoto's solo stuff worth getting?

i don't know about the solo stuff
but magazine are one of the best post punk bands.
shot by both sides is an amazing song.
again
another band I keep harin about and mean to check out. I'm gona have to start a Pylon thread aint I...
magazine
light pours out of me is a blinder
lots of love
seriously underrated. Radio 4 stole all their best moves from them.
all that DFA
punk-dance stuff was just re-inventing post-punk and old skool house at the same time. I like that though...
one of my favourite bands ever
John McGeoch (the guitarist for the first three albums) is my biggest idol in terms of guitar players. My favourite song from them is Motorcade. A Song From Under The Floorboards, The Light That Pours Out Of Me and Permafrost are all brilliant too.
Great band
love em
Aye
Get "Jerky Versions of the Dream" as it's really not that different from Magazine.
One of my favourite bands
Got into them thanks to Mansun, who were big fans and wrote the fantastic 'Everyone Must Win' and 'Railings' with Devoto. The first three albums are absolutely essential - I really can't choose between them.
Favourite songs?
Shot By Both Sides
Motorcade
Back To Nature
Feed The Enemy
Permafrost
Parade
Give Me Everything
I Want To Burn Again
Upside Down
A Song From Under The Floorboards
The Devoto solo album is worth getting, as is the second Luxuria record 'Beast Box'. The Pete Shelley collaboration has some good 'Low'-esque stuff on it but sounds a little dated.
