depends what your taste is. fuzzy logic/ radiator is the one for strong pop songs. guerrila/ rings is a bit freer, experimental, but still poppy. rings is a bit overdone with the string sections for my liking, still good though. you can't go wrong with either package. maybe have a listen on you tube to decide.
For me Guerilla is where it all came together and worked flawlessly, and live they blew me away around this time.
Before Guerilla the songs were there but with less studio tom-foolery. After Guerilla the songs are still there, but the production values are higher. So, it depends if you prefer lo-fi/great ideas or hi-fi/great ideas.
Without a doubt. I've never been able to get into 'Fuzzy Logic', though I love pretty much everything else they've done. I think 'Love Kraft' is massively underrated.
so I'd really have to say both. Fuzzy Logic is their only album (except perhaps Love Kraft) with any filler but Radiator is their masterpiece, and getting Radiator and Fuzzy Logic is better than just getting Radiator. If you see what I mean.
And then Rings is a very close second (for me), so yeah, both.
all the dissing of 'fuzzy logic'? it's a classic..it's way way way better than 'rings around the world', which is overblown, full of syrupy, wet ballads, and only just about redeemed by the epic 'run christian run' which is arguably their best song. how can you say 'fuzzy logic' is the only album with filler? have you heard 'chewing chewing gum'?
take it from me man, pick up the fuzzy logic/radiator pack first. there two stone cold classics. 'guerrilla' is also an excellent album, but 'rings around the world': don't be fooled by people saying this is their experimental album or whatever, it's actually very conservative in the scheme of things although it has its moments.
Although I'd say Radiator is their best album overall it is quite melancholy. Fuzzy Logic is just one amazing pop tune after another. Where the fuck is the filler? (ok maybe Mario Man?) and bad production? Maybe it's not great but if that's unlistenable then you're ruling out plenty of amazing albums by other bands with worse production than that. Personally I think the post-Creation albums are generally over-produced.
Guerilla is ok but the mid section of Wherever I Lay My Phone to The Door To This House is irritating loop-based stuff that perversely sounds like a band running out of ideas and just trying anything in the hope of sounding new.
Mwng and Love Kraft are under-rated in my opinion.
i realise that the company who do these 2pack deals might not have a choice, but to me it seems more natural to have:
Fuzzy Logic/Radiator
Guerrilla/Mwng
Rings Around The World/Phantom Power
and if we're going that far...
LoveKraft/Hey Venus!
Not just because that's chronological, those albums just seem to pair up well to me. i'd probably stick Out Spaced in with the first two as well. And Phantom Phorce in with RATW/PP.
and guerrilla probably comes second, so I'd say get them. Especially if you're new to the Furries, because Rings is probably their most accessible album. Radiator has lots of great songs, but I don't like the production - it just sounds really tinny. The cymbals on placid casual hurt my ears a bit.
buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both buy both
Et cetera.
Radiator is the best of a pretty flingin' flamin' awesome bunch - also sure you get 'Ice Hockey Hair' from somewhere, as it's not on any of the albums and is frankly unfriggingbelievably good.
Oh and buy 'Out Spaced' as well - as impressively non-shit a B-Sides compilation as you could ever wish to hear.
But don't buy the best of, as you really need the album tracks (She's Got Spies, Fragile Happiness, The Turning Tide - well pretty much the whole lot will enrich your life in some way)
the best of has the single versions of the early singles. not the re-recorded versions off fuzzy logic.
for me radiator is their best album. im shocked by the negative opinion of fuzzy logic. it has some of their best 'pop' singles on it. hometown unicorn & if you don't want me to destroy you are both classic furries.
but if you have to pick one, pick radiator/fuzzy logic. okay fuzzy logic isn't amazingly produced but it's got at least five solid-gold classics on there.
also, agreed about outspaced - a great b-sides compilation if ever there was one.
cause then you will own Run! Christian, Run! and Somethings Come From Nothing and you will be eternally happy.
You're going to buy them all once you've bought one anyway, so you may as well just get them both now, so you can budget for the rest of your life afterwards.
It is my favourite Furries album by a mile. It is just perfectly arranged and produced, with the most heartfelt songs and sweetest melodies. If you like Gruff Rhys' solo stuff then give it a go. You can read the lyrics translated into English at www.mwng.co.uk if the Welsh scares you :)
Guerilla/Rings
But only because Fuzzy Logic is the worst of the bunch. Radiator > all of them.
^ this
Albums in order of greatness
Phantom Power
Radiator
Guerrila
Mwng
Rings around the World
Hey Venus
Fuzzy Logic
Love Kraft
that's a tough one
depends what your taste is. fuzzy logic/ radiator is the one for strong pop songs. guerrila/ rings is a bit freer, experimental, but still poppy. rings is a bit overdone with the string sections for my liking, still good though. you can't go wrong with either package. maybe have a listen on you tube to decide.
OK thanks so far
But I'm gonna change the question. Which, out of those four, or any other SFA album is the best?
probably radiator
but i also have a soft spot forguerilla, so it's hard to choose
* fr guerilla
* for
sigh...
Radiator > Guerilla
> Rings > Mwng > Hey Venus > Phantom Power > Fuzzy Logic > Love Kraft
That's how i'd rank them anyway...
that seems about right
i dont havephantom power or Mwng though
sigh
has my space bar broken? or should i proof read before i click post reply?
no one cares so don't worry about it.
.
I agree
except I'd swap around the first two. I <3 Guerrilla bigtime.
Guerilla
For me Guerilla is where it all came together and worked flawlessly, and live they blew me away around this time.
Before Guerilla the songs were there but with less studio tom-foolery. After Guerilla the songs are still there, but the production values are higher. So, it depends if you prefer lo-fi/great ideas or hi-fi/great ideas.
But Guerilla is the best of both.
The lousy production
on Fuzzy Logic really lets it down. The songs are mostly great, but i can't listen to it because of the production.
Guerrilla
is a mad tropical pop album with shitloads of cool ideas - so it gets my vote! Radiator is still considered the classic though I guess...
i've heard different people argue
that each furries album is their best, if that makes sense. says a lot about how good they are. guerrilla just pips radiator, for me.
Guerilla/Rings
Without a doubt. I've never been able to get into 'Fuzzy Logic', though I love pretty much everything else they've done. I think 'Love Kraft' is massively underrated.
I agree with this
except the Fuzzy Logic bit. Even Love Kraft is pretty good, SFA reign supreme.
I presume they're a bargain price
so I'd really have to say both. Fuzzy Logic is their only album (except perhaps Love Kraft) with any filler but Radiator is their masterpiece, and getting Radiator and Fuzzy Logic is better than just getting Radiator. If you see what I mean.
And then Rings is a very close second (for me), so yeah, both.
what is with
all the dissing of 'fuzzy logic'? it's a classic..it's way way way better than 'rings around the world', which is overblown, full of syrupy, wet ballads, and only just about redeemed by the epic 'run christian run' which is arguably their best song. how can you say 'fuzzy logic' is the only album with filler? have you heard 'chewing chewing gum'?

This man speak more sense than anyone on here
fuzzy logic / radiator
everything else after this is shit
I normally don't wade into subjective opinion-type stuff
but this is the wrongest view ever. :)
followed by the most right view ever
Fuzzy Logic is amazing
Although I'd say Radiator is their best album overall it is quite melancholy. Fuzzy Logic is just one amazing pop tune after another. Where the fuck is the filler? (ok maybe Mario Man?) and bad production? Maybe it's not great but if that's unlistenable then you're ruling out plenty of amazing albums by other bands with worse production than that. bang on about the production. 'rings around the world' sounded really sterile and streamlined compared to their earlier stuff.
waaaaaaaah?
It's in 5.1!!!!
Exactly
Too much. That kind of thing might appeal to audiophiles but I can't put it better than Haribo really, it sounds sterile.
The 5 channel sound when they toured it live was phenomenal though but that's only because the songs were shorn of their studio gloss.
They seem like strange pairings to me
i realise that the company who do these 2pack deals might not have a choice, but to me it seems more natural to have:
Fuzzy Logic/Radiator
Guerrilla/Mwng
Rings Around The World/Phantom Power
and if we're going that far...

Fuzzy Logic / Radiator
Probably my two fave SFA albums.
Just
get them all.

I know its probably not a very helpful solution to your quandry, but its 100% true. Each album oozes pure genius in its own way.
Rings is my favourite furries album
and guerrilla probably comes second, so I'd say get them. Especially if you're new to the Furries, because Rings is probably their most accessible album. Radiator has lots of great songs, but I don't like the production - it just sounds really tinny. The cymbals on placid casual hurt my ears a bit.
Best band ever BTW.

^ Ice hockey hair is on songbook (the best of)
I believe.
True
But don't buy the best of, as you really need the album tracks (She's Got Spies, Fragile Happiness, The Turning Tide - well pretty much the whole lot will enrich your life in some way)
i like the fact
the best of has the single versions of the early singles. not the re-recorded versions off fuzzy logic.

Guerilla/Rings
for me too. Inventive and compelling songs across the board. But as above, just get both. They all offer something a little different.
Radiator / Mwng.
End of story. Ignore everyone else, listen to me.
I can't bieve the lack of love for Mwng
It is my favourite Furries album by a mile. It is just perfectly arranged and produced, with the most heartfelt songs and sweetest melodies. If you like Gruff Rhys' solo stuff then give it a go. You can read the lyrics translated into English at www.mwng.co.uk if the Welsh scares you :)
