This will've been done plenty of times before, but I'm listening to this for the first time in ages - it really is magical, isn't it? Great tunes, great lyrics, great production... Is such a beautiful, cohesive work of art, like. Except for Hospital Food, that can fuck off.
Anyone else rediscovered it recently?

along with Kid A
this has the dubious honour of me having sold it twice
Whyfore
?
bought it when i was a youngun
really didn't like it, so sold it
saw it again later for cheap, thought i might have grown into it, remembered all the fellatory comments about it amongst the "indie community"
didn't like it much more, needed money (desperately), sold it
I love it!
but I haven't heard it in ages!! I think I'm going to put in on my MP3 player so that I can listen to it tomorrow! Thanks! :D
Brilliant album
PS You Rock My World always brings me close to tears as an album closer. Such a sad record.
Saw Eels play at the start of this year in Birmingham Town Hall.
It is in my top 3 performances of all time. Some songs, you could’ve cried your eyes out like a teeny little girl.
truly great, yes
that, b freak and daisies are equal faves of mine
His best.....
......a fantastic album....love it.
masterpiece,
work of art, etc...my favourite is the title track, it's one of the most haunting pieces of music i've ever heard..if push came to shove, daisies of the galaxy is my favourite eels album, but this a close second
'Laying in bed tonight i was thinking
And listening to all the dogs
And the sirens and the shots
And how a careful man tries
To dodge the bullets
While a happy man takes a walk
And maybe it is time to live'
seconded
on those lyrics
ps you rock my world makes me smile, very life affirming.
my faves : 3 speed, electro-shock blues, last stop, climbing up to the moon, medication and ps
I would also agree that as a piece of work - none of the other Eels albums quite matches this. The songs are very consistent and integrate so well.
though yeah, hospital food can grate some times
my favourite eels album
Last Stop This Town was the first song I loved, and still do. Dead Of Winter is my favourite though- it's just so immensely sad and beautiful.
Cancer For The Cure, Climbing To The Moon, P.S. You Rock My World... so many great songs. I even love Hospital Food.
