...I was brought up catholic and can remember having to go to confession at junior school during lunch break. I had to go along to a classroom where there was just the priest there waiting to hear my sins. He would be sat on a chair with legs open and I had to kneel in between his legs with my head bowed and confess my naughty deeds. Looking back on it now I realise how dodgy that actually seemed but as a child you don't think of these things.

I went to a catholic school as well but have no issues apart from overwhelming guilt and a tendency to cross myself - they call it Roman Fever in the low churches you know

the head teacher was mad too. We weren't allowed to clap our hands properly, we could only put two fingers together and tap them on the opposite hand....it was 'too noisy' apparently

Secondary school was worse, we had this horrible nun for a headmistress who used to go off it if we weren't walking up and downstairs on the right hand side. I remember getting a slap on the back of the head a couple of times if I was on the left side. Once my arm got broken during morning break and she insisted there was nothing wrong even though it had swelled up 3 times its size. So I had to stay at school like that all day cos she wouldn't ring my mum! My mum went to see her the next day and gave her a good bollocking. Some parents had even physically attacked her! Shes dead now!
