Can someone explain to me why the Foo Fighers are EVERYWHERE? They're inexplicably popular at the moment and I can't see the appeal - they're fronted by a goofy twat who can't sing, they churn out the same old rubbish single after single, rip off countless other bands (QOTSA), duet with Norah Jones and get away with it, make "comedy" videos which are just an elaborate excuse for Mr Grohl to express his latent transvestite urges, they're bland as chuff! And I can't escape them ARGHhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Put on Everlong, sit back, close your eyes and then just try and say that they don't at least one bit deserve the attention they get.
Yeah, every track may not be a classic, but by god they have some immense anthems.

by which i mean gemsam. fuck me, i just cannot like the foo fighters, there is something so bitterly soulless about them. never in their songwriting endeavours have they come up with even 2 consecutive notes that have done anything other to me than slow my heartbeat by a nanosecond.
first album rather fantastic, second album overproduced but still generally great songs, third album going a bit off, fourth album boring, haven't bothered with the new one after the awful single. shame.
Then you'd lose that bet good sir. Loved that band since 1995. It's like supporting your local football team though, even when they're not doing so well so still stick with them. Their music has been a bit of a soundtrack for me at times and I've had a lot of good times listening to it, and yeah it's probably helped me through stuff at times. Fair enough a lot of folk don't like them but I can bet you any money they mean a hell of a lot to lots of people. But whatever. Some of you guys don't like them, I couldn't care less. I don't like Celine Dion but I won't go starting a thread about it, I just don't listen to her.
I know what you're saying, but why stick with a band who's not doing well any more? There are loads of great bands to choose from out there, why stick with one who used to be good?
Plus, its not really 'glory' hunting. I mean, in football, that's when you like a team who win a lot. What I meant was, like different bands... be they famous or not.
Trust me, I don't just like Foo Fighters. Hell I wouldn't be on this site if that was the case. Music is my thing. I just like a band that has sold a lot of records and a lot of other people seem to like. And some people think have written shit songs. ;-)
I agree with wrighty on this. Why the fuck should you spend your hard-earned money on shit music just because the band used to be good? I'm fed up with wasting money on CDs based on previous releases being good, only to find that they're shit.
Because the old stuff is still good. And I don't even mind the new stuff. I listen to so many new bands but I don't think any of them are going to even make 5 albums. I can't explain it. I just grew up listening to this band so when people bad-mouth them, it just gets to me. Go figure.
"They're like metal for Oasis fans"
Spot on. Obviously there are far greater evils in this world (Red Hot Chilli Peppers: sub-human scum) but I just wanted to check I wasn't alone
One by One was an ok album, the new one is just shit. Even the acoustic album gets boring and rubbish after a few listens. Only decent songs on it are Virginia Moon and D.O.A (which is destined for a shabby life of way too much playing on Kerrannnggggggg and the like).
Chili Peppers should take some drugs. Their music is SHITE now they're Buddhists or whatever. They're the rock band for people who don't like music... say to the receptionist where you work "what music do you like?"
You get: "Dido, Norah Jones, Katie Melua, U2, Sting, Coldplay and ooh er.. Chili Peppers." If they're REALLY avant-garde you might even get Razorlight or the Killers.
Lay off Oasis too, they might be rubbish now but they had two albums which changed the face of British music and popular culture which is more than the bleedin Foos have ever done.
i really like them but i can admit some of their song are bland. hell and DOA are some of the best thracks on in your honor, as well as in your honor, their cd one by one had really great songs, the guitar parts and drum fills rule but asside froma reapeated 1/2 second riff the bass is BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously, i get a bigger kick watching little house on the prarie than paying one of their basslines. personaly i find the foo fighters great but not brilliant line bright eyes or wilco. if you want something to rag, rag the likes of simple plan, all american rejects, good charlotte and that crap
I unfortunately saw Foos at Reading as all my mates were like "seriously, they're AMAZING live and you have to see them at least once in your lifetime"
They clashed with The Go! Team, but I've seen them twice before and will be again in October so thought I'd go along rather than stand on my own.
Worst decision I have ever made.
There's a lesson here. If you ever camp with my mates and they recommend you go see a band, tell them to shove it up their ass

Re: Foo-k off
Colour and the Shape is one of the best albums ever.
for this, the foo fighters deserve their spot in the limelight, even if they're not making records that as are good as their old ones.
Re: Foo-k off
Hence me seeing anything instead of them at Leeds.
It's a shame really as you think that Grohl could make a really good album, but he produces middle of the road drivel.

You shouldn't if you don't want to, really. You don't need to.

Go back to watching Star Trek or whatever it is you do.
