If you were to hear this and write off (X)>(Y) as some kinda pretenders to a nu-wave throne then a) you obviously haven’t seen them live to experience the full effect, b) you haven’t heard tracks two or three, c) you’d be wrong.

‘S.G.W.’ IS a good but SLIGHTLY odd choice of first single, considering the band are normally lacking in the under-two-minutes-long songs. The first impression you’d get from this is that they’re capable of throwaway indie pop fluff and maybe nothing more. And as I said, you’d be wrong. (They can sound like moody bastards too, you see.)

Having said that, what is significant about ‘S.G.W.’ is that it contains all the verses and choruses and middle-eight that you’d expect in a pop song and it does it in 1 min 40 seconds… and why bother going on longer when you’ve already said all that needs to be said in such a joyful, spunky way?
