Extras *hides* ... ok well, not the unfunniest comedy EVER, but a massive disappointment in my opinion.
I have Jimmy Carr's stand up DVD and it's not that bad, though everything I've seen him in on tv recently has been terrible. Does that make me a bad person?

Whoever said "Black Books" is wronger than dog poo on toast.
Also whoever said "Last of the Summer Wine" shame on you sir. Shaammmme on youuuuuuuuuuu. (okay it's not technically funny and I don't watch it but I find it comforting to know it's there.)
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
oh the wit, what a disfunctional yet hilarious family! I really wish my family was as funny as them!
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Arrested Development is brilliant!
And the unfunniest comedy EVER is an American sitcom called The Pitts. Anyone who's been up past 2 on a weekday (insomniacs and students basically) and flicked onto ITV may have caught it.
You know in Family guy or any other American comedy series where they have a fantasy sequence in which the characters imagine they're in a really bad American comedy series and everything is exaggerated and the laughtrack is clearly a tape recording, and it's just embarrassingly awful? Well, this is like that, but all the time, just jaw-droppingly bad. It goes off the scale of bad, past so bad it's good, and reaches the level of "how did anyone ever think this was a good idea" bad. Hardware was brilliant in comparison. Seriously.

I felt so bad for Dylan Baker as the dad, because he's a very talented actor, he deserves better.

Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
I have to say that Futurama is pretty poor, certainly Series 3.
A lot of the stuff listed here isn't really that bad.
Pretty much anything the ITV ever tried to foist onto us is infinitely worse.
I always thought Big Train was basically gash, though.
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
I dont enjoy many american comedies as they are either 'goofy' or like, you know 'clever' and there are 432 writers per episode - I mean would somebody die laughing watching Will & Grace? (obscure ref. to a man who died laughing at the Goodies)
Futurama is very good - and has pathos and bathos in bucketloads - the one with Fry's dog in always makes me sad
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
I would also like to nominate Family Guy. It's fucking hilarious, but does anybody else think it's incredibly chauvinist?

Anyway, worst. Did anyone ever see that Mad About Alice with Jamie Theakston and Les Dennis' ex? It was awfull.
I think the americans generally take the biscuit when it comes to crappy sit-coms though. We are after all, talking about the country where the guy from Everybody Loves Raymond is the highest payed actor on television.
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Paul Merton is a genius panellist but as a sitcom writer my mum is better at tilting windmills than he is at writing a 'classic'
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Sorry, they made more but I lost the will to understand the differences.
I guess it'll be the same with Tittybangbang. I didn't watch it as the Times' review said it was awful and it's description of scenes made them sound atrocious.
Let's be honest, it's all about fucking catchphrases now. Either the comedians are too lazy to create new characters and actual new scenarios, or we are too stupid to realise we are being ripped off.
Bo Selecta can go on the shit list too. If i'd ever found it funny it would have been ruined by being woken up at 6am on a saturday by a goon at the mill behind me shouting "tee-hee" and "cha-mone" again. and again. and again.
Whilst we're on the subject of goons. Wasn't the goon show great!?!?!?!
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Can we name some funny women?
The best I can come up with is Victoria Wood and that women on the news quiz simon hoggart does on radio 4.
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Also these* comedy shows are full of (well usually about half full of) women. You can be a comedic actor without being directly behind the creative process.
*Hmm maybe not such a good idea to use these shows as an example, bu you know what I mean, like?
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
Kathy Burke is funny.
Re: Unfunniest "Comedy" Ever
But the point is a fair one; it's more difficult to list a string of women than men. You could say that about many things, though. The reason for this probably goes a little deeper than men simply being funnier than women in general.
