Cubase or Cakewalk, or something else?

I just want to string some guitar chords, noise and noodlings together, than clean it up and sequence it with a set of good quality bass and drum loops.

What do you guys use?

Just picked up "Guitar Port" and having some fun with it.

Oh - simplicity of use is definitely a factor.

Re: advice on midi sequencers?

Hi,

I use an old version of Cubase (version 3.7 I think) to do a similar thing. If you are planning to record guitars then a small DJ style mixing desk is an absolute must. This is because you will need (I assume) to be playing along to a metronome or drum pattern etc. when you record. Getting a room to backing track level that is confortable to play to is practically impossible without this. I have a diagram of how my PC recording / Cubase / MIxing desk is setup that I did for a friend once. Drop me an email if you would like a copy of the diag.

Good luck!

I've just picked up Guitar Port, which I think negates the need for a mixing desk, right?

Re: advice on midi sequencers?

Don't no dude. When I set my recording up it was 4 / 5 years ago. If you run into probs then I can give you a basic setup though.

Thanks,
D
