The 'ironic' ones. Oh, how people laughed...
Two particularly annoying examples: -

1)Travis covering Britney's 'Hit me baby'. The video of that freak whining and slowing the song down to about 16 bpm on his shitty acoustic guitar was more than I could take, especially when people were running around saying how cool it was. Aaargh, but that was a while ago now

2) Anyone had the misfortune to hear Snow Patrol's cover of Crazy in Love. It would not have bothered me much if it wasn't for Zane Lowe (the mutha fuggin 'zippah', yeah) rapping behind a forced false-modesty laugh in the middle of the song.

When I saw Art Brut t'other day and they played the riff from 'back in black' at the beginning of their set I was scared they were going to play the whole thing with Argos vocals. That would have been a contender.

Whoever said All Saints - Under the Bridge is wrong and also whoever is about to say Joss Stone - Fell in Love... is also wrong. They are both great reinterpretations. In my humble.

No The Worst Cover Ever, as I've said before is Knockin on Heavens Door by G 'n' R. ah knock knock knockin on heavens dooooorrraaaaoorroorr ahh hey ah hey hey yeah.

Or mebbe that lady who sometimes stands over there -> when she did American Pie. That was pretty pooey.

I'm well glad I've never heard that Snow Patrol cover. Crackout's version, however, was pretty neat.

I'd like to nominate The Vines' cover of 'Ms Jackson', but only because I was so disappointed crazy ole Craig didn't bust any fat rhymes on it, and just sung the chorus in his disinterested-with-life drawl all the way through instead.

Entire new cd covering Jeff and Tim Buckley. A few valiant efforts but no. King Creosote removes the intensity and passion from Grace so it sounds like a bog standard love song.

Creosote delivers a still born version of that song! Absolutely stripped of meaning to become a Damien Rice esque love lorn lament. The intensity and fire - everything Buckley put into it is replaced by something sub standard - therefore tp me it isn't a good cover version.

I heard a red hot chili peppers cover of Go4 ('cause, like, they don't do that anyway (ok so andy gill produced them a bit)) it was bad.

But everyone has overlooked the MURDER that is Jamie Cullum's version of High and Dry.

During the BBC glastonbury coverage this year, some completely inept idiots decided to do a lounge/jazz acoustic version of Love Will Tear Us Apart, complete with plucky spanish guitar, and a woman 'sexily' whispering 'love, love, love' repeatedly at the end. Poor old Ian would have not only turned in his grave, but proably would have blown it up, as well as the entire world and everything, if he heard it.

I remember that, was it Nouvelle Vague or summat? As I've probably said before in previous bad cover topics, Jo Whiley's been responsible for a fair few atrocities on the Live Lounge. Notably Hope of the States doing Beautiful, The Thrills covering Like a Virgin and The Ordinary Boys covering that Tatu song.

I have to agree with the earlier Limp Bizkit comments... Fred Durst should be kept away from music... whatever song they cover, they turn into the dronings of a mating fox.... even then I think I'm giving them too much credit.

I heard someone say once that "Behind Blue Eyes" is the best song Limp Bizkit have ever done, not realising it was a cover.... sad thing is they were probably right.

I don't like beating down bands, but jeez I just can't help doing it to them
