we are scientists

i'm really getting into this band (for no good reason it seems - maybe partly because the bassist looks like a librarian stereotype?!) having seen them support the editors the other day

anyone else liking what they hear?

  • Re: we are scientists

Yeah me rikey very much. This Scene Is Dead and Lousy Reputation are the highlights in my own personal opinion. But then the whole album is crammed to the full with catchy poppin rockin tunes. It makes for easily enjoyable listening.
  • Re: we are scientists

Nothing special but really good fun.
  • Re: we are scientists

    Seen them, didn't like them!

Maybe if i was 15 i might like them!
    • Re: we are scientists

Let the teen in you come back Marco.
      They deserve it !
    • Re: we are scientists

      !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH, YOUR OPINION MATTERS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG EVERYONE IS SUCH A SCENESTER FOR LIKING GOOD BANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'M NOT THAT IMMATURE TO LIKE GOOD MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Re: we are scientists

I take offence to that you fat ass.
  • Re: we are scientists

Not bad live but on record they sound like another identikit post-punk revival band. Good tunes and great for dancing though.

The video for The Great Escape is very funny. Anyone have any ideas what it's about? I see it as a metaphor for media saturation and how people keep forcing you to do things.
    • Re: we are scientists

Very good pop music, nothing more, and it doesn't try to be..

The album's not as good as the two EPs though..
    • Re: we are scientists

going to see them tomorrow night with editors. W.A.S guys are just plain funny..i think
    • Re: we are scientists

Awful and Aidan partially has it down as to why - identikit post punk revival but a zillion bands do this kind of thing better and with an ounce of passion. I've seen them live twice and they never fail to bore me. Perennial support act - it's all they deserve. The Rapture make good tunes that are great for dancing to so do Hot Hot Heat - these make coma patients.
      • Re: we are scientists

        Perfectly put!
  • Re: we are scientists

yeah like these guys, album is pretty good. this scene is dead and nobody move, nobody get hurt are awesome.

saw them at reading and thought they were pretty good live.
  • Re: we are scientists

Saw them last night and they were good. The singer was hanging around outside the venue afterwards looking utterly lost!
    • Re: we are scientists

i think if i'd heard the album before seeing them live i might have not given them another look, but they are definitely a good live band
      • Re: we are scientists

        i agree devendra...
i also saw them last night in Bristol and, although my flatmate and I have been singing their poptastic tunes avidly for about 6 months now, was expecting to see a sub-standard band playing catchy chart tunes. however it was actually pretty cool. big up W.A.S.

anyone else at this gig see the Cloud Room, who were on first?

they're playing again in Bristol on the 9th November
  • Re: we are scientists

i prefer the band they took their name from.
  • Re: we are scientists

s'alright. Not sure how many more bands can get away with the whole post-punk-pop sound, they all merge into one after a while.
    • Re: we are scientists

I'm loving all the bands right now. I think its the first time since brit pop that we've had our own real uprising and we should be proud and support these bands.

      Jen x
  • Re: we are scientists

Yaess, liking what i hear a lot, I'd heard a lot of their stuff before i saw them support Editors last week, and seeing them live only made me like them more, can't wait for the album:D
