Can someone please tell me what order they released their albums in? Is Siamese Dream their debut?

Before someone says 'use google', I tried and found all the fansites to be wank.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Gish no 1, Siamese Dream no 2.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Gish
Siamese Dream
Pisces Iscariot (I think)
Melon Collie
Adore
Machina

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

In order (favourite band)

Gish
Siamese Dream
Pisces Iscariot (b sides)
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
The Aeroplane Flies High (more rare stuff)
Adore
Machina: The Machines of God
Machina II: The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music

Post Split (or maybe not)
Rotten Apples(best of)/ Judas-0 (yet more rare stuff)
Viewphoria (live)

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Ultrageeky though it is to know this, Vieuphoria (on video) was released before they split; before Adore I think. I know because that's when I bought it. There was also an extremely limited CD (Earphoria) release at the same time. Subsequently Vieuphoria was re-released on DVD, and Earphoria was re-pressed in much larger numbers.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

viewphoria was out on video sooooooooooooo many years before you say it was, i hav owned that video since around 1998

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Well i did explain that down the thread...

i know the video has been out since about the mid 90's...

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

It's all gone a bit mental. Gay4 is right, even if he won't stop bragging about it.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Bollocks...

Earphoria is the album. I didnt mention the E.P's either.

My sister has everything, all the singles etc.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Earphoria is GREAT, esp. the live versions of Geek USA and Silverfuck.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Thankyou, all my lovely friends.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

So is Adore or Machina better? Both seem to get very mixed responses, I'm wondering which to pick up next.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Adore is better than Machina 1

I love Machina II almost as much as Mellon Collie (my favourite album ever)

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Really? I'd never realised Machina 2 was meant to be that good. I might have to find that one then, cheers.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

It'll probably be only me who likes it.

Its grrrreat to paraphrase a tiger.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

I do trust your taste though ;)

But the tiger thing confuses me...

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Not a Frosties fan then...

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Personally I can't stand Adore, but like Machina.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Adores good but I consider it a Billy Corgan solo album, it aint the pumpkins without Jimmy and James is relegated to mere ebow duties. A lot of non pumpkins fans tend to like it.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

You're right about Adore sounding pretty un-Pumpkins, but I think it's a fantastic album. It's probably my favourite actually. For Martha, Ava Adore and Crestfallen in particular are amazing.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

seconded, Adore is very good indeed. I like all the electro crackles and spits behind what are slightly gothy pop folk songs.

Check allmusic.com for stuff like this.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Has anyone else been reading Billy's online autobiography?

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

www.billycorgan.com - click on the "confessions" link at the top. Some of it is quite interesting, although his approach is very scattershot, leaping around different parts of his life rather than following a linear path...

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

I guess that's just because it's being posted as he writes it - if you were to write a book you probably wouldn't sit down and write everything in the correct sequence even if it was eventually published that way.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

Oh, I'm well aware of that - just not the way I'd prefer to read it, that's all.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Question

I've really found it to be a genuinely affecting in places, he describes an abused child's feelings of helplessness and confusion so well.
