Re: Lapsus Linguae

I was a little disappointed when I saw them. They weren't.... very good.

I had a dream last night that pitchfork invited me to become a reviewer. Think I've got a chance?

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Nop.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

When i first saw them i thoguht they were fucking shite. But because i felt sorry for them I bought an EP anyway, and had totally forgotten about it until a couple of months ago, and it was really quite good.

Piano/Keyboard driven eclectic Post-rock kinda shit.

Its cool.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

I liked the confrontational frontman thing at first - I think Selfish Cunt have learnt a thing or two off them. But then that fight they have at the end... soooo staged.

Musically, I've only heard them live. They got blown off stage by Peterborough's prog-metal (yikes!) heavyweights, Tunguska Butterfly. Maybe they come across better on record.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

It seems that way doesn't it. I'm listening to a song right now and it is beatifully epic. Think theres even a Piccolo solo in here... or a Flute, oh wait theres a Harmonica too...

It might all be synthesised though...

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Hmmm. Maybe I'll give them another chance. I really wanted to like them...

Re: Lapsus Linguae

They're playing a few gigs round the country at the moment.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

I heard they were a mess of a band so i avoided them. I am far far too easily influenced.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

that's part of the appeal!
they're amazing musicians really.

i went to school with one of them and i had a couple of parties and i think he pulled at both of them and i had to kick him out of my bedroom cos i wanted to go to sleep (i'm a great host). true fact!

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Hey,

I went to school with one of them too!! And they really are amazing musicians. Wanted to see them when they were in town a couple of months ago but couldn't make it.

The Parade EP was pretty amazing and there are some really cool moments on You Got Me Fraiche and I think there is some new material just about to land.

Probably not for Franz or Arctic Monkeys fans but still well worth a listen.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Some of my cohorts saw the gig on Sunday and went into hyperbole overdrive. Unsure, they're pretty easily pleased, hence my friends.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Excellent musicians with excellent songs, in my humble opinion. And in these days of identikit 80s clones, any band that has the balls to sound like they do has got to get respect.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Hmm l looking forward to seeing them on Friday. Loved them the last time they were out touring about two years ago. But learnt not to stand right at the front in front of the stage. It's probably the only time at a gig when the empty semicircle around the stage seems like a good idea.

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Fuckin love them... glad to hear they're still going, to be honest

Re: Lapsus Linguae

hello, lapsus linguae are amazing. they have new demos up here. http://www.myspace.com/lapsuslinguaetheband
cant wait to see them again

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Sounds like their older stuff. Needs blastbeats and soft oboes wafting across the tightly drawn string section chords...

Re: Lapsus Linguae

we can but hope

Re: Lapsus Linguae

Mr DiS once compared the band I manage to them. He seemed to think it was a bad thing but I am not so sure.
